For you Star Trek fans, Paramount+ features a new episode today that features time travel back to 2023 in Toronto. Interesting watching the action in downtown Toronto at the Eaton's Center and around Skydome. It's actually a very good episode on Star Trek, Brave New Worlds. It's worth a look. Enjoy!

I could never understand why a sci fi show, with an entire universe of other planets, anomalies, and cultures, has to continually use time travel for material.
Especially when the notion of time travel they use, is inherently impossible due to it's built in paradox's.

It's pretty clear the plan was and is to run this (frank)er back until Tavares contract expires and then try something else I guess.
- fifty__missions

yeah I mean Boston should trade Pastrnak since he's won nothing. They keep running it back. Dallas should trade everyone since they haven't won poop either.

Why at age 38 would he want to play on an obvious non-playoff team. It makes zero sense
- Archaic

Easy...Perry will get them a 3rd at the deadline...

That is a benefit to the team, not Perry. The ? was why would Perry want to play for a non-contending team at this point and it's a good question.

To their core? What changes would those be - perhaps there are ones I have forgotten because I don't recall either of those teams really making a big change to the core.

Maybe Green in Washington?

It is if he's traded to a top contender at the tdl...

So he wouldn't sign with a contender with the plan to hopefully be traded to one?

So if Willy and Tre don’t reach a consensus by tomorrow does Willy get traded? It seems to have gone quiet on that front.

Does a contender want to offer 38 year old Perry a contract he would want and have the Cap hit, when they can just trade a throwaway pick later and add him as a 4th liner with no Cap implications? I assume the Lightning want to get faster.

I'm guessing playing 10 lazy mins for a bottom feeder during the reg season suits him better. Might have some left for a deep run that way?

What contender wants to sign him for anything but league min? Might squeeze some money out of Chicago and get to eat his cake later too.

Maybe if Tre gets sense that Willie won’t move to a number he can live with. 10 team list isn’t impossible to work around.

Trading hall for nothing? Not having a 1st OR 2nd line center? I see how that's going to do well for them

I think this is it too. Why not take 1 or 2 year deal in Chi-town? Make some money.

Just not a fan of fiction. Any other non-fiction book suggestions?

The Turin Shroud by Ian Wilson in 1978 is one of the most fascinating books I've ever read. It's all fact based.

It's the paradox that makes the story. This story begins the TOS episode Space Seed and later the movie, The Wrath of Kahn.

As opposed to just signing with one to start the year? Uh ok.

it's also a risk that nobody trades for him at the TDL and he's stuck playing out the remainder of the year with the Hawks and likely not making the playoffs. Seems like a big risk for a 38 year old who has shown his desire in the past few years is to win another cup - at least to me.

Those changes have resulted in zero stanley cups being won.

And if "sniffing around" = making changes you and others should be overjoyed to have heard Tree Living was 'sniffing around' everything and was said to be the most active a Leafs GM has been in a decade right?

If you missed it it's on Ek's main page, scroll down a bit in the Draft Tracker and you will see it beside the Leaf logo.
