Hey just trying to help you out so I will let you in on something. It's the pages of pages and pages of hot takes. I

I wonder if the the jets would be up a for swap. Nylander for Scheifele if ROR doesn't resign
- dmnted

Hmmm if the 88 rumours are true ...Saturday could be fun. Do you set the deadline for 88 to sign? Or wait it out and risk July 1st passing you by?

Also the Murray buyout poop just got more interesting. Sammy goes to arb (or team selects arb) giving them another 5 weeks to find a trade before buying out Murray.

Nylander is being traded.

Pretty much confirmed. It’s playing out exactly how I predicted it would. He’s demanding too much money, Brad won’t pay it.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

I had a feeling that Willy and his agent Wonka would play hardball. He had his career year and now he wants to get paid, so he can take more games off. He's the type of player that would play hard in a contract year, but once content and the cash rolling in, he'll play like a prima donna. Make a trade for one of Calgary's defensemen, grab another asset and a draft pick as well, and include one of our excess goaltenders not named Woll in the transaction.

If that one doesn't work, make a deal with Phoenix for Clayton Keller. Willy can get his money there and live it up in the sun all year round. Maybe shovel the Muzzin contract there, to get them to the Cap floor. I think Keller is around $7.1M and wants out. Still has 4 more years on his contract. He, at least brings a bit of grit to his game. That extra $2.5M in cap savings will help get us another decent player.

24 Years old. Make that deal!

No to Reeves. He brings nothing but knuckles and will be useless in the playoffs.

I thought my last sentence was pretty light. You want to unfairly slam the Leafs prospects, I'll let you know you're inaccurate. I'll just to tell you why instead of just calling you names which is something I thought you'd appreciate!

I don’t think it’s unfair to criticize Niemela.

Fans get attached to players and they become protective of them. Like Gull with Niemela, Lums with Valiev, or me with Kadri. Topi will never play in the NHL, sadly. Who cares tho, he was a 3rd rd pick.

I’m fine with midget-smurf Keller, but he’s not the type of player Brad should be trying to acquire, imo. At least bring Crouse in as well.

I am pretty sure this is Nylander's contract year. I like Keller but grit is not a word most would use to describe him. 5'10 178 lbs. 18 hits on the season

He's 4 years younger and has 4 more years on his contract. He may be an inch smaller than Willy but plays with a bit of an edge. Put him on the right side with Matthews and he may become a 100 point player. You get the same production and you can use the extra cap room to bring back O'Reilly. It could be a winning formula.

He's 21 - 2 years away from even having to clear waivers - he has a good-to-high skillset and plenty of time to adapt to the North American game. He needs to put on 10-15lbs of muscle, but barring an unforeseen circumstance, there's a decent chance he plays in the NHL.

He will now have the local benefit of the MLSE training facilities, and meal planning and appropriate physical training regimen under the guidance of professional trainers. I'd be honestly shocked if he didn't make it given the talent he's working with and the only thing standing between him and the NHL is some muscle mass.

I am not the one making stupid guarantees hoping to hit on one so I can try and get attention telling everyone how right I was.

If Willie get's traded you will still have been more wong on him than right. I am not sure that bothers you though because you are obviously just an attentio whore.

Why take games off? He’s still signed for this upcoming season and if he isn’t signed by the end of it he simply walks and signs with whoever he wants.

He won’t be sitting out again.

If Willie get traded it won’t be because he’s a “candy-assed floater”. It will be because the Leafs who want to keep him, won’t be able to afford him.

Does that count as being right?

The Leafs need to take a chunk out of the core 4. Just a message to the rest of the team that every player is expendable. It's time to buck up and start finding a way to win in the playoffs. Willy wants to play hardball, then goodbye. If they could make that Clayton Keller trade, then it all works out for the Leafs and the Barney parade in Phoenix. Keller wants out, the Leafs should use Willy to get it done. The scoring stats are almost identical.

Losing an asset like Willy for nothing will leave a burn mark on this GM and the Leafs team in general. Time to break this circus up.

Why do you give me attention then, if that’s the case?

My opinion: I really like Scheifele and he's been clearly frustrated in Winnipeg. You move Nylander for Scheifele, (a) Winnipeg would need to pay Nylander the money he wants and he would want to be there and (b) Winnipeg would need to add to make it more even. Scheifele is good, but Willy is 2 years younger and better.

Expand it to something where we would need to add, and maybe a Samsonov + Nylander for Scheifele & Hellebuyck as the basis would be more even - they both want out of Winnipeg . . . I like all 4 players, but they'd get scoring (but lose a centre), we'd get a centre for 2C and we'd get a better goalie but they would get more control and a more affordable price.

Dealing with next year's cap is tomorrow Brad's problem. Just like how drinking heavily is tomorrow moneypunk's problem.

It's not like he has a full nmc start July 1st so the Leafs can be patient here.

We'll know more tomorrow around noon if Murray gets bought out

If they sat him for that reason the players in the entire league would hate them, UFA’s would no longer sign here, the other stars would demand trades, they’d be added to M-NTC’s by damn near everyone.

You can’t treat players like that, hell it’s a safe bet even the NHLPA would get legally involved and get the league to have his contract wiped making him able to sign with anyone while Toronto gets nothing for him.

Agreed, at the same time all we’ve heard is the “difference”, what if it’s stemming from a lowball offer that is the root of the “difference”?
