Agreed, at the same time all we’ve heard is the “difference”, what if it’s stemming from a lowball offer that is the root of the “difference”?
- Dozzer

You are right. Could be offer of $8 and he wants $9.5

I think you just nailed the problem.

We know this core is never going to win (or we should know). The problem is the only other real option is blow the entire thing up. You are likely to not win any trades for Marner, Matthews or Nylander and you can't get rid of Tavares. The only real chance is to run it back again, with more shuffled deck chairs, and pray.

It isn't much, and it won't work, but for as long as Matthews will sign it is the best shot they have.

The league will never let the Leafs get "tougher" like other teams do. We have all the evidence we need to see how that works out.

- Aetherial

Trade Nylander (if the contract wants are legit).

If the return for Nylander isn't a top tier player/s that can help now, trade some/all of the return for someone who can.

Sign Bertuzzi to be the bumhole that gets penalties, so that the other teams also finally gets penalties (NHL's game management bullpoop). But he can also help offensively.

Stay the absolute (frank) away from Karlsson.

Hope Holl signs in division so the Leafs can take advantage of him and everyone can finally see and accept how garbage he's always been, now that he plays elsewhere.

Win the Cup.

Or he wants more if not offered some sort of NTC as well.

Also might be just a low deal like you mentioned til Treliving sees what free agency seems to be handing out to similar wingers first. Plans on working it out and is just buying time.

Well, if Matthews does indeed leave some money on the table to help trickle down the lineup, and Willy will not, this is a great opportunity to set up the "culture" on this team going forward. If you are a me first player, cya later.

And I like Willy. If he also gives even a tiny bit of a hometown discount, I'd want to keep him.

The only two(realistic) trades I’m liking for Willy is

Lindholm/Hanafin

Willy to the highest bidder and then stuff to SJ for Karlsonn/Hertl

Seriously?

Niemela arrived at the Toronto Marlies at the end of the season after finishing his time with Kärpät in Finland. While his offensive numbers were lower this year, he was more focused on improving his defensive play.

In 6 games at the end of the year with the Marlies, where the team went 2-4, he put in 2 points and was even in +/-. In the playoffs he had 2 goals, 5 points and was +2 in 7 games, leading all defensemen on the team.

But please. We'd all like to hear more from your ass. Do go on.

I actually read ahead this time before posting my post. Should've still done it before typing it all out, though.

Topi coming along just fine. Just like my boy Liljegren did.

It's not like he has a full nmc start July 1st so the Leafs can be patient here.

We'll know more tomorrow around noon if Murray gets bought out

- dmnted

Ya, but then you've got less options to replace him. UFA's will all be signed.

I just want you to leave. I feel like reading your posts make me dumber. It was nice while you were gone. I am sure many on here would agree but are too polite to say do.

Shanny: who’s the wrong guy to draft?

Treliving: whatever is suggested on HB, so I’m going to grab Cowan

Shanny: oh! Ok! Sounds good!

*they check HB a minute later*

Both of them: god dammit Dozzer thinks this was a good idea!!

*they cry a little*

No to Reeves. He brings nothing but knuckles and will be useless in the playoffs.

I had a feeling that Willy and his agent Wonka would play hardball. He had his career year and now he wants to get paid, so he can take more games off. He's the type of player that would play hard in a contract year, but once content and the cash rolling in, he'll play like a prima donna. Make a trade for one of Calgary's defensemen, grab another asset and a draft pick as well, and include one of our excess goaltenders not named Woll in the transaction.

If that one doesn't work, make a deal with Phoenix for Clayton Keller. Willy can get his money there and live it up in the sun all year round. Maybe shovel the Muzzin contract there, to get them to the Cap floor. I think Keller is around $7.1M and wants out. Still has 4 more years on his contract. He, at least brings a bit of grit to his game. That extra $2.5M in cap savings will help get us another decent player.

Bruh I feel bad you wrote all this out because this ends at Arizona making a trade to INCREASE the salary on a player.

If Willie get traded it won’t be because he’s a “candy-assed floater”. It will be because the Leafs who want to keep him, won’t be able to afford him.

Does that count as being right?

- Canada Cup

Yup. Exactly right. Which is exactly what the people who want him to stay have been saying all along. So technically, we're completely right, while the Bill Ny haters just backed into being kinda right.

The Leafs need to take a chunk out of the core 4. Just a message to the rest of the team that every player is expendable. It's time to buck up and start finding a way to win in the playoffs. Willy wants to play hardball, then goodbye. If they could make that Clayton Keller trade, then it all works out for the Leafs and the Barney parade in Phoenix. Keller wants out, the Leafs should use Willy to get it done. The scoring stats are almost identical.
- PrinceLH

Nah. They shouldn't do that.

Trade Nylander somewhere else and then trade picks and prospects to Arizona for Keller.

Nylander is unlikely to want to re-sign in Arizona, anyways. So trade things to them that can't walk in a year.

Because he's worth it. Leafs just don't have the CAP space.
