As you would expect, there will be a new contract for Corey Perry in Chicago. Not a shocker if it is in the one-year, $4M range that Nick Foligno signed after being traded from Boston

I fly on WW2 era DC-3’s, and other smaller aircraft.

I will say that come July 1 he's going to get offers from cup contenders - they will offer him $1m. But would he be taking calls from Chicago? Would his agent even return Davidson's call? But trade for him and you have their ear at least.

That said, Perry has made $92.5m in his career. I can't imagine the type of bad habit you have to have to blow through that and figure you need $4m more.

They wanted to convince him to stay with them and why before risking him signing elsewhere on the 1st. As for the $, probably in order to get to league minimum with their plan this year.

Yeah, I understood that - my comment was that while Chicago could or is willing to offer 4x as much, once July 1 hits and Perry starts fielding offers from cup contenders, maybe that $4m from Chicago isn't as appealing - or maybe he doesn't care about going to Chicago so his agent doesn't even bother talking to Davidson about a contract.

This way they get in front of all of it and offer him something that's hard to say no to right now. He could always have waited 3 more days and just seen what else there was, but right now he has visions of Lamborghini's sinking to the bottom of Lake Michigan dancing in his head.
