Whelp, for what it's worth, I'm sober and I don't really like the Mayfield deal. The annual salary is tolerable but the term seriously concerns me. Scott will turn 31 in October, meaning this contract will carry him through 38yoa. We all know the ups and downs about Mayfield. His occasional mental lapses (,terrible clears especially) and consistent penalties are the negatives. On the positive, he is a totally committed player. He occasionally surprises offensively, to the point you almost wish he would rush the puck more often. He's great on the pk.
Is he a $3.5m player? I dunno. I would say he's at least close. That said, I think years 5,y and u could be painful.
