It did not work and they tried him and center a lot. - neem55
They tried him at 3C, of course it didn't work.
His dad was a great 2C. |

This stuff is right up your alley. Nylander Zacha in JTM Myers Boeser out.

Well depends on what Willy’s contract ask is to begin with. If can fit the salary structure they envision.
Zacha I believe is just coming into his own & cheap for awhile.
Lots of cap going out is always a good thing & the sweeteners probably makes this work. Boeser can bounce back but Willy’s speed & skill set are superior.

I think you would have zero chance of re-signing Nylander if he thought his line mates were going to be Zacha and Beau for the next few years. It would need to be Petey Kuz and Will as one of the top scoring lines of the league. |

Maybe so but loaded up & being a 1 line team doesn’t work. Willy could be all about the money & drives his own line. In game lines can change & he’ll be PP1. Also has a 10 team NMC. |

Good for his dad, but no he isn’t a NHL
center. Great winger though. Would make the power play go on a top level. |

NH is taking credit for it. My mistake see Aaron is not the only one who gets you two mixed up.

If they're able to get Nylander to a decent cap hit, why not make a wild trade sequence:
JTM to Boston for Zacha + 1st
Boeser + Myers (50% retained) + 1st (Boston or Van's) + prospect for Nylander and Brodie
Toronto saves on cap, Van stays the same-ish for this year with the retention, but save in the longer run and get upgrades.

Hughes Brodie

If only there was a way yo get Nylander early in his career
I was happy when they drafted Jake and then he comes out and says he wants to be a scorer instead of an energy guy. My immediate thought was Oh Crap.
Talk about a wrong pick. |

Look on the bright side, having several failed high draft picks has allowed the Canucks to stumble along and then striking it big on some other high-end draft picks, making the Canucks this great team they are today.

Who would have thought picking the Canadian kid over the Swede one was the wrong move? |

Yeah I remember watching a bunch of his games when he was with the Hitmen in the WHL and thought, Lazy but a decent skater and a great shot. Little to no Hockey sense. I sure miss the days seeing the look on Travis Green's face when Jake would dump the puck in the corner on a 3-1 then make a line change.

JV's WHL numbers were quite good so it's easy for GM's to get fooled before the drafts. Happens alot. |

Is there a hot take of the day?
Here’s a fun stab at it.
JTM will not be traded as long as Petey and QH are Canucks. |

Agree Hronek will be much better skating or passing up ice than Myers. Myers thinks & plays at the speed of juniors.
On Hirose I like him on 3rd pairing. He impressed me on his audition.
On Aman he still needs to be a better puck distributor to be an ideal 3C. I hope Tocchet & co can get that outta him.
We are plenty deep on wingers just need more from C’s to get the most outta them. Agree 4th line is a mystery still.
I want to see much more stable PK & more forechecking & puck retrieval right outta the gate. The D should be better defensively & hope they can gel quickly. - Nighthawk
One part where I have to disagree. Having lots of wingers doesn't make us deep. Factoring in quality, I think we're quite thin actually.
Totally agree on more stable PK. You can't win anything with the way it's been last few years. |

Any deal that moves Miller out is a good move to me! Don't like Brodie, but gladly take him on if it ultimately means Miller is gone.

Apparently he has good underlying defensive numbers, he can play more stay-at-home with Hughes hopefully.
There might need to be some more added parts but I think it could work |
