Stevie Yzerman...probably the best GM over the past 15 years, damn that guy is so good at what he does. We got Jim Benning though, so there is that.
The Red Wings have selected 52 times in the draft since Yzerman took over them in April 2019, the Canucks 33, which again tells you part of the reason why the Canucks will never be successful unless they start putting more stock into the NHL entry draft.
Also, since Yzerman took over the Red Wings in April 2019 they've had 19 first and second rounds picks, the Canucks 5....LOL.
2019 - Red Wings 74 points, Canucks 81 points (no playoffs)
2020 - Red Wings 39 points, Canucks 78 points (bubble playoffs)
2021- Red Wings 48 points, Canucks 50 points (no playoffs)
2022 - Red Wings 74 points, Canucks 94 points (no playoffs)
2023 - Red Wings 80 points, Canucks 83 points (no playoffs) - LeftCoaster

This is a bubble team?
This looks like a bottom 10 team to me. Bottom 5 if there are a couple injuries (which history has shown will likely be the case). There’s no depth. There’s like 1.1 lines of reliable talent there.
Even the teams that absolutely cratered for Bedard will be better this year. Canucks will be in real tough. I’d be into if it was intentional finally accepting they need some top tier picks, but the Hronek trade showed me they’ve learned nothing. This is the same as the last regime, recycled with the same marching orders from above. |

I'm not sure if Detroit and Yzerman realize they won their Cups in the 90s and 2000s because they were a juggernaut with a ton of stars.
Can't get anywhere with just a bunch of guys.
The whole Red Wings rebuild feels incredibly underwhelming. Seems to be. |

Well, I've been in the office for two hours already and I'm bored, could be another long day on the keyboard with most of the staff here taking the day off between the weekend and the Tuesday 4th of July holiday. |

Wow....probably took a full box of Kleenex for Faber to cleanup after that article. Could you imagine though, the Canucks actually finding a kid in the 7th round who plays in the National Hockey League, speaking of Lucas Forsell, kids got great wheels. Maybe the next Jannik Hansen. |

I don't know who Christian Fitzgerald is but geez.
There is 10 drafted D at camp and only 8 forwards. |

Gotta build through the backend and the middle of the ice, that's how you win. Goaltending too, but those (frank)ers are so flaky they take forever to develop. |

It could be worse, they could have given Blueger, Cole and Soucy term, but Blueger and Cole are on 1 year deals as stopgaps and Soucy is only a 3 year deal. The question is, did they do enough to convince EP40 to sign long-term here. If they didn't then this team is f'ked and they'll have to start trading players like EP, Hughes and Demko and start over. |

We received a solid offer on the restaurant, my wife decided she didn’t want to sell or move back to Canada as the cost of living and quality of life is so much better in Scottsdale. I told her final decision because we’re not going through this every year, she said yes, done deal, we will live and retire in the USA for the rest of our days….thankfully.

How much cheaper is it down there? I'm getting closer to retirement as well and definately prefer the states. Only thing that scares me is the health care is crazy expensive from what I hear. I'm only 38 but am setting up both my businesses to run without me |

Everything is cheaper, however, my perspective is somewhat skewed in that we earn American money. It's obviously not as cheap when you convert Canadian money into USD and then have to purchase things. |

You know, the more I look at the draft, not knowing at this point if any of these kids will ever become anything, the more it pisses me off they traded for Hronek. I get it, they want to win now, but they could've drafted three young defensemen in the first and second round this year. Like Willander at #11, Axel Sandin-Pellika at #17 and Lukas Dragicevic at #43. That would've been a beautiful haul. Why can't Vancouver ever have nice things? |

Such a bad pick by Ken Holland, they could’ve had Quinn Hughes, Evan Bouchard or Noah Dobson.
Kinda like the Canucks could’ve have all three of Tom Willander, Axel Sandin-Pellika and Lukas Dragicevic.
