You know, the more I look at the draft, not knowing at this point if any of these kids will ever become anything, the more it pisses me off they traded for Hronek. I get it, they want to win now, but they could've drafted three young defensemen in the first and second round this year. Like Willander at #11, Axel Sandin-Pellika at #17 and Lukas Dragicevic at #43. That would've been a beautiful haul. Why can't Vancouver ever have nice things? - LeftCoaster

Such a bad pick by Ken Holland, they could’ve had Quinn Hughes, Evan Bouchard or Noah Dobson.
Kinda like the Canucks could’ve have all three of Tom Willander, Axel Sandin-Pellika and Lukas Dragicevic.

As I said, I get it, they got a sub 25 year old right shot NHL defenseman. All three of those kids may never become NHL players, still annoys me though given the chances of two of them being NHL’ers being very high. If there was ever a year to draft, it was 2023 with so much talent. Such is life with a loser franchise. |

It was a win now trade when they are not winning now. It was stupid. |

I think he will end up being a better all round defenseman than Hughes. Steven Y made a big mistake. Time will tell. |

Yeah exactly, I’m in the same boat. There was a chance here to at least ‘retool’ a little bit with a future focus.
It seemed like a rushed move and overpayment. Again, nothing against hronek he may end up being excellent … but he was injured so that should have reduced potential trade partners. Feels like Allvin maybe got sucked into a ‘bidding war’ against nobody.
Also sidenote - why are most canuck signings always heavily rumoured well ahead of time. Is there a leak in the org? You’d think something like this can potentially impact leverage in trades and signings. |

With the follow up moves they made, I think it was dumb. They could have signed another free agent short term and drafted two kids for the future. I am not sure Hronek was thrilled to be here either. Usually players are excited to go to the new team and get going.
With the moves they made so far they built a bubble team IMO, not a playoff strong team. More continuation of the last two management groups. |

It's always fun to look at hindsight later on. I mean "the 2nd best player in the 2018 draft" -quoted from someone in here. Was just put on waivers. There was some insane sadness to when Detroit took him. Hronek is an NHL D and a good one. ASP and Felix Nilsson will be question marks for a long time. I would say with the outcome of the picks used. Win.
Seeing what Columbus and LA paid for Provorov, Canucks got a great deal on Hronek. |

Because they only hire Rookie GM's.

This is a bubble team?
This looks like a bottom 10 team to me. Bottom 5 if there are a couple injuries (which history has shown will likely be the case). There’s no depth. There’s like 1.1 lines of reliable talent there.
Even the teams that absolutely cratered for Bedard will be better this year. Canucks will be in real tough. I’d be into if it was intentional finally accepting they need some top tier picks, but the Hronek trade showed me they’ve learned nothing. This is the same as the last regime, recycled with the same marching orders from above. - Sayros
So you think the Canucks are worse than last year? Bold |

Pellican stinks. He will never come close
To being what Hronek is now. Brilliant trade |

They traded an old, overpaid UFA plug for a center prospect and 25 year old top 4 RHD. It really was a homerun. Not sure what the point of mentioning the islanders pick as they never had intentions of keeping it |

There are 14 skaters/defencemen on the ice at UBC for late session at Canucks Development Camp. And 11 coaches. Excellent student-teacher ratio. #CanucksU |

Horvat was soft AF, a questionable leader who set a poor example for the youth of the organization. Good riddance.

I forgot all about him already. When I think of greatest Canucks, he will not even be close to making the list, nor will I have much to complain about him either.

Such a weird passive dude. But the fanboys have trouble letting go. And now they are pining over Pellican. A soft defensive smurf. Pretty sure we have enough of those already |
