Team needs a fighter. Someone like macewen in the press box is fine

Isn't that what Joshua is?

I like Joshua but no. He fights the odd time but not effectively. Miller is the teams best fighter and that’s a problem. Joshua is a keeper and it’s great to see his offensive game continuing to grow but he isn’t scaring anyone

Team toughness be a better more reasonable want. Bang & stand up for each other more especially in scrums. I speak of the softer players to engage more. Boeser etc. Stuff like some more board battle hitting face washes & headlocks in scrums. All the little things to let teams know they won’t take it. Gotta push another teams buttons & get some calls & go on 4 on 4 if necessary & let more open ice happen to use our offence.

Tiger Williams was one of the best agitants we ever had. He stirred it up & got ops to take penalties & also held his own & could score 20.

Joshua could be that maybe. Shlt disturbing is a fine art & only needs the right attitude & character. Pod can be that & a few others.

You don't need a pure face puncher, what you need is guys who will standup for themselves, and more importantly, each other. Outside of Miller and Joshua the Canucks have no one who've ever even dropped their gloves in a scrum, let alone fight. Pearson, but his hand is (frank)ed. You don't have to be tuff, you just have to not be afraid. Beyond those two guys their isn't a guy in that forward group that could fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

This is where you develop prospects to add a lil aggressiveness to their game to help them get a better shot at making the team in the future. Klimovich who has the size would be one. As long as other prospects are coached it takes other things to make the bigs it only can help them get call ups & push for jobs.

D like Burroughs who play gritty & no other skills get contracts. There is a path to the league if can skate & play responsibly chipping in in other ways. PK & forechecking & grinding are always in demand.

Oh I totally agree. They can’t afford to have Miller fighting. They need to address the issue. Whether it’s a pure goon or a decent 4th liner that is enjoys that part of the game. Even an abrasive middle weight would be fine.

I still have a glimmer of hope that Hoglander could be that type some day

It’s funny, peculiar, as the Canucks fan base used to love Tiger Williams and Gino Odjick, who were no angels, back in the 80’s and 90’s. But the demographics of the fan base changed, the wussy lib generation took hold and they no longer want toughness. It’s just different now.

It was evolving already anyway, but I think Bert really abruptly changed the course of things on enforcement. Before, I was a hated canucks fan in calgary but it was all in good fun. After that moore thing, the atmosphere felt different. It was embarrassing and I think a lot of canuck fans shied away from cheering for the goon as a result. Pests no problem ala ruuttu, kesler, burrows, etc. but the days of embracing and getting behind the bully or physical intimidator seemed over.

I'd take MacEwen. I liked him. Didn't necessarily go out and start trouble, but always stepped up to answer the bell.

If he could be a speedy pesky forechecker he’d push for a job.

Has to play 200’ & be consistent & he’s getting closer 👍

We don’t need more at best fringe players. Develop our own instead or cheap UFA vets on a 1 year. Acciari types don’t need scrappers.

There are more than just Joshua and JTM that will fight. I am not saying they are good fighters but Myers has fought, Pearson will fight, Briesbois Juulsen Soucy Cole Irwin.

I like how Finns play with an edge & desire to out work ops. Hoping Raty can become this. Jurmo is a tease but he just cannot figure it out or maybe never. Great skater but the hockey IQ of a gnat it seems lol. He needs AHL coaching & seasoning imo.
