I was shocked we got Wheeler so cheap. I had to verify the news like 5 times before I believed it.

Great, great analysis by Jan. Wish we could get this quality of evaluation for every team.

I thought the most insightful comment was Jan's gentle chiding around team speed and his wondering if the Rangers will be able to keep up with the Devil's pace. But, I think that might be a challenging question for every team in the East.

Love the Wheeler signing. Absolutely no downside to signing him at the price we got him for. Same goes for Gustafsson. The others I’m w.e about, not excited and not bummed given the lack of cap space we had. I think it’s 100% clear now (not that it really wasn’t anyway) that Panarin isn’t going anywhere. Maybe Chytil and Wheeler on his line (both bigger bodies) will help open things up a bit more in tighter/playoff type games.

The only thing that will change the course now of this off-season is an unexpected offer sheet signing from Lafreniere or K’Andre

Otherwise, they’ll get done on bridge deals, and the Rangers will probably go into season with enough cap space to make 2 regular Hartford call ups as needed.

Pretty efficient work by Drury as long as the offer sheet doesn’t happen.

Cheap and it happened so fast once the clock struck noon....which is a bit worrisome. Maybe dude just desperately wants to play in that sweater before he hangs up the skates.

I think its all about being buddies with Trouba and the Rangers have the least amount of travel in the league

Wheeler also just got a big buyout check from Winnipeg so didnt need the pay day

I wonder if anyone will actually do it. Maybe gorton. I think Laf ends up with $2.1-$2.3 and miller $4.25-$4.5

It only matters if the player signs it (meaning he would have to want to play for the other organization). Even then, it puts to rest any negotiations. Rangers either match and move out Goodrow to make cap space or they take the pick and sign a replacement.

A Lafreniere offer sheet of $4.2m AAV would cost a 2nd round pick. I wonder if that is number Lafreniere's agent will push during the first stage of negotiation.

if that offer sheet actually happened, and it was long term, I think the Rangers would match it in about 16 seconds

Rangers fans, Mac was part of a scenario last year where the Leafs had to play with like their 10th and 11th defenders and they went virtually undefeated. Missed a lot of time due to injury last year unfortunately but showed he can play in a pinch.

AZ has so much cap space - that's where we should try to send Goodrow. Maybe Goodrow, Trochek and a 1st for Keller half retained. Take the savings and sign Tarasenko, Milller and bridge Laf. Keller has to be annoyed spending his prime on an AHL level team.

Im gonna guess that Goodrow has Arizona on his NTC list and Trochek has a full NMC

Those lists are the bane of this league. I'm sure it'd cost us more to get Keller at half as well, but it's a starting point.

Given the signings Arizona just made, Keller looks to be a huge part of the future. Highly doubt he goes anywhere
