Wheeler has definitely slowed down as he got older, and isnt the fastest skater... but... for 800k it seems like a no brainer. He also could fit well on a grinding 3rd line. If he could duplicate last year or even be better, 800k would be a steal. imo

Getting out of the city of Winnipeg alone should boost his spirits!

Kakko has to play top-six, then questions start. Laf should be in the gym daily while working on his skating and trying to play right wing. Move him there on top-six initially. If both fail - which if it happens - organization is kind of screwed, then you put Wheeler there. Othmann and Cuylle marinate at Hartford and when proven ready, then they come up. On paper, sounds great. In practice, who knows

I agree he should be on the third line at least to start, giving the kids top 6 minutes. But I don’t think he can be a grinding type. He can set guys up and that’s about it. Needs to play with high motor/high effort guys like trocheck and kreider/goodrow

The Rangers cannot afford to be patient. because of the situation Gorton and Drury put the team in...
- tomburton99

Which is why they signed Wheeler

Yeah, he will definitely have to have some speed with him. Cover up some of his skating

what's funny to me is all offseason, Tom was pretty much clamoring for Kris Knoblauch to get the head coaching gig, and if he didn't it would be "just Drury being Drury"

but now Tom is terrified of Othmann playing for Knoblauch in Hartford

Pretty much Jan. We can all talk about what should be, but will have to see how well players mesh and all the other stuff that goes on with putting a good line together.

Does anyone else get the feeling if Laf doesn't have a break out year, it could be his last with the Rangers?

so why is Othmann automatically ruined like the others if he starts in Hartford?

doesn't it seem like Knoblauch has the AHL team going in the right direction?

Jones can't prove it in NHL after only 38 games. also if the goal for organization was can handle the demotion and improve, he has. I thought the hating of all NY players was my job?
- tomburton99

No way can NYR have both Jones and Fox playing in the lineup..especially in playoffs..Vegas showed what having a big movile defensive corp can do. Jones signing is simply a way to facilitate a more favorable return when traded

Probably. But then who about him being the Russian who shall not be named. Where the Rangers sold high and bought low.

Erik Gustafson is just Swedish Zac Jones... but instead of 5'11, he's 6'0

Don’t have smart conversation with Tom, he can’t handle it

Big D mobile D is how you win. You need forward speed, not so much size there. Jmo. The new NHL if you will. Need 3 quality centers too

I mean if he has an average season, not sure he would sell low. I just think the Rangers are expecting way more out of him and it hasn't been there. Been glimpses. Just wonder for whatever reason he just doesn't fit well here. I have more faith Kakko will be better at this point.

because I saw a lot of people talking about how the Rangers would be wise to make Knoblauch their next coach "stop going for retreads, promote from within" blah blah blah

and if I see some of those same people saying sending a kid to go play for him is a problem, like Mr jeff Goldblum did here, Im gonna call them out

No what I'm saying is that I think Laf has talent, we've seen it flashes. It's up him to him to be more consistent and assertive. No doubt. (This is gonna be a powder keg, sorry to you. ) I just think the Rangers haven't help enough in trying to be a better player in the NHL.

I wonder at point in the movie the line was written for him "If othmann goes to hartford, he's ruined. " Maybe on the extended cut.
