because I saw a lot of people talking about how the Rangers would be wise to make Knoblauch their next coach "stop going for retreads, promote from within" blah blah blah

and if I see some of those same people saying sending a kid to go play for him is a problem, like Mr jeff Goldblum did here, Im gonna call them out

- jimbro83

I wanted a new voice and new coach not a retread. Made my view on Laviolette and others pretty clear. I hope to be proven wrong. The addition of Peca does add a new voice, which should help.

No what I'm saying is that I think Laf has talent, we've seen it flashes. It's up him to him to be more consistent and assertive. No doubt. (This is gonna be a powder keg, sorry to you. ) I just think the Rangers haven't help enough in trying to be a better player in the NHL.
- tomburton99

This is what I mean..we rushed them most likely, yet you want to rush Othmann. And people wonder why we call you out all the time.

Laf needs to be on PP1. That’s how he’ll deter the label, until he gets that he won’t be a great player. PP production makes players better, and more confident, it’s not rocket science

man, I suck to argue with dont I
- jimbro83

Not at all James. I enjoy our conversations. Two very passionate people. One full of hope, one dead inside (me); who only care about the Rangers.

I think it came down being a win now team under a lot of pressure. And to give that team and situation to a young or first time NHL head coach, would’ve been epically foolish imo. This wasn’t the time for a David Quinn-esque hire.

Understood, which is why I am glad they added Peca. Would have liked Marc Savard as well. But Muse having worked for the NTDP helps since he has been coaching younger players.

The PP will help, but it's what we see on the ice. The deficiencies and area of need are pretty clear. It's up to him and the org to fix them, confidence included

I don’t know if laviolette is capable of fixing how we play in front of our own net but that’s going to need to happen. Shesty would put up historic numbers

He puts up elite numbers. I’m talking GOAT numbers with an actual top defense

I know nothing of peca as a coach but Muse seems like he gets it. I’m optimistic about him

He was the HC of the development team? Or asst? Or just a guy around the team?. I never heard of him tbh, until we hired him. He seems to have some major pull within the org fairly quickly tho

If I’m the isles, I trade JGP and Dobson in a package for Debrincat. They are so hell bent on defense, and structure there, and that’s great, but they can’t score enough

Why make that trade when you can sign Tarasenko for free

Possible that Tarasenko hasn't signed with another team yet due to Drury trying to make room? That would be fantastic.

If Bertuzzi got $5.5 mil for one year from Toronto, can't see Tarasenko taking less than $4 million for a year

Isn’t bertuzzi much younger? That has to impact a 1 year deal.

Wouldn’t it be the opposite? Meaning, a one year deal is less influenced by age

I guess… for some reason I feel like a younger point performer has more upside than an older one. Thus, the older skater would get less money as there is less of a chance he can perform vs the younger skater.
