Lol. Seriously though, I think it was about cap space and term. My guess is when Bert saw that he wasn’t gonna get term he thought Toronto would be a good landing spot with all those skill guys. He’s betting he’ll be healthy, have a big year then hit the open market next year for a big payoff.

January 1 is extension day for 1 year contracts - could also be as simple as that. The talking heads said to expect some of that bc of the Cap.
