So this aged well I guess...
“Touchy question,” said Domi, laughing. “I’m going to to be dead honest, obviously I grew up in Toronto so I was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan growing up. Now I hate the Leafs, let’s make that very, very clear.
“I don’t like anything to do with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I’m all Habs now, and I’m all Montreal not Toronto.” |

I down-tuned my back up guitar to flat so that I could play 'Faithfully' by Journey, and 'Patience, by GnR. And some Morgan Wallen.
I'm excited about the Leafs additions as well. |

I don't know what on earth I just read through for like 15 pages but damn.....
I just have one question for people who are older, has it always been like this? Everyone is one side or the other or somewhere in the middle sure, but the pure vitriol and inability to discuss anything without pure rage and hate is just shocking to me. And the sources of information people use to support something is also scary (though I'm not sure what sources are even real out there anymore...)
But seriously, has it always been this bad when sides are debating or is today's world really this charged and hate filled?
Also on the hockey side, I'm very curious to see what other moves are coming. I'm reasonably a fan of the moves so far though. But I would've loved to keep Schenn even at that contract. |

1000%.
Losing Acciari and Schenn was absolutely stupid considering the alternatives. You don't acquire those players and then let them walk for nothing when they were the two biggest physical forces in the playoffs and were impact players.
I'd rather keep Gustafsson at 1 million and Schenn at 2.75 than have Klingberg at 4.15 AAV+.
To me, you put Gustafsson on the PP (42 points and more goals than any other Leafs D) and you put Schenn on the PK and on the 2nd pairing.
In both scenarios, you get better offensive and defensive production by simply putting two players in specific situations to succeed. And for less money!
The same goes with giving Kampf 2.4 million when Acciari got 2 AAV over 3 years while Bonino and Glendening both got 800K. Would rather have Acciari, Glendening and Bonino as my 3rd or 4th line than Kampf and Holmberg for basically the same price. |

I wish everyone could just disagree about the Leafs, instead of politics, or who's the bigger bumhole.
If you want to talk politics or cry about other posters, (frank) off. I'm sorry for my part in these shenanigans. |

Completely agree. Accari I would've also kept at all costs. And who knows, maybe the players elected to move on and not the team, but regardless, it's a shame. Accari and Schenn performed great and i would've loved to see them back.
Gustafsson always seemed to not get much of a look here despite his numbers. I have a feeling he might have been disinterested since the trade but not sure.
As the team is now though, I like the physical play added given what's available, but I dont think the money was spent as best it could be. More will be coming though. I'll reserve judgement but I'm cautiously optimistic currently, which is dangerous as a Leafs fan lol. |

The Leafs made bad offers and picked other players to waste their money on and that's the most likely reason guys left and joined non-playoff / inferior teams for more money. In same cases, the Leafs could have matched the offer like Schenn, Acciari and Gustafsson and in others they couldn't like O'Reilly and Bunting.
Imagine giving Reaves a 3 year deal for 1.35 AAV but then not offering Schenn 2.75. Of course he left, the Leafs offered a garbage player double the money he's worth but wouldn't give Schenn an increase. Schenn can play 18-20 min a night, he's bigger than Reaves, can fight, hits more, is a RHD, kills penalties and is a character guy still under 35 with 2 Cups. That extra 1.35 could have been given to Schenn over 3 years and it would have given the team more value.
Or Kampf at 2.4. Of course Acciari is going to leave, the Leafs already decided to move on beforehand.
Klingberg gets 4.15 AAV?
They gave 7 million dollars to 3 pylons. It's just bad management. |

So if Samsonov files for arbitration does that trigger another buyout window? Then the Leafs can buyout Murray to pay Sam. There must be trade(s) in the works. No?

Muzzin to LTIR, Murray likely bought out/or traded.....
Probably not signing anyone else unless league minimum, unless they trade a bigger contract.
Brodie won't be bought out.
Nylander is the wild card for the rest of the summer.

Need some help in understanding.
Capf shows Leafs over by more than $8m. It means they are getting very close to the 10% threshold of $8.35m. Is there any viable option going forward that does not involve moving out one of the bigs? |

Bertuzzi, Domi, Klingberg and Reaves. - Strider
Bertuzzi - good, 1 year great..excellent addition
Domi - Meh.. 1 year great. looking over his stats.not a tough hitting machine...good passer
Klingberg - meh, feels like Barrie 2.0 ..good offence, horrible horrible defense
Reaves - just prove to me someone like reaves has an effect on the outcomes.
Is this who they are replacing?
Bunting, Kerfoot, Simmonds, Holl
big shrug for me.. really dont care either way |

to get under the cap again, Muzzin/Murray are dealt with. LTIR or trade
gets them under by a couple mil. But still need to sign Samsonov.
so they may still need to make a small move id think |
