The Florida Panthers have signed Evan Rodriguez to a 4-year/$3M AAV Contract.
Genuinely shocked the Avs didn’t match that. Unless E-Rod wanted out this doesn’t make much sense to me. - GreatGigInTheSky
Avs traded for Johansen - replacing Rodriguez, plus they picked up Ross Colton and Jonathan Drouin on the cheap. Not a huge surprise when you see the moves they made.

Didn't realize they had made the Mack Drouin reunion for 800k. I can see that working out |

As the #LeafsForever continue to weigh their options and the cap, I'm hearing they remain in the mix for Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi. Bertuzzi wants term, Domi could come in at two years.
Florida was also in on Bertuzzi. Not sure how the Rodrigues signing affects that.

How do they get better without trading Nylander? Don’t see it. If they could get Necas and Pesce from Canes for Nylander+ that would be huge I think. Have seen that tossed around although I’m not so sure Carolina goes for it. Then they could go hit up Domi for middle 6, or maybe Bertuzzi. I don’t know anymore, lots of work to do if you ask me. Looks terrible on paper. |

The athletic picked the Killhorn deal as the worst signing of the day. They also have the islanders next gm as the biggest loser. |

Hasn't been a good start to the Treeliving Era for sure. But if they can reel in Bertuzzi:
Knies-Matthews-Marner
Bertuzzi'Tavares-Nylander
Is a solid balanced top 6.
Bottom can be filled with some combo of Robertson, Kampf, Jarnkrok, Lafferty, Reaves, Holmberg, Steeves, FA signing/trade
Rielly-Brodie
Mccabe-Kling
Gio-Liljegren
Sammy-Woll
Still a playoff team/Contender IMO |

Nervous about the lack of speed up front. Guess you never know until you run it and the roster is set come fall. Look at FLA PANTHERS. |

Would like to see Hathaway in the bottom six too depending on the price. I think replacing Acciari is a must. |

O'Reilly seems like he is slamming Leafs culture and heart a bit here..maybe Keefe
"We kind of dug ourselves a hole quick and didn't respond," he said. "There are so many things we could have done differently. It's frustrating. We could have given that series a better chance. That's just the way the game goes sometimes. When you get into these moments where it's challenging, you have to find a way to pull something out of each other and find a way to give a bit more. Against Tampa, we did that.. again - there are so many things we could have done differently."
"We didn't respond a certain way that we needed to in a couple of those games and it's disappointing" |

Yeah, Bertuzzi would look good there. That elusive top 6 LW scorer has plagued the Leafs for a while, Bunting excluded.
I honestly don't mind those pairings at all. You got Timmins as another puck mover option too. Gio's a question mark if he's able to return to form, but he fell off a cliff at the end of last year; wonder if he was hurt. |

Bottom six is the easiest to fill. Getting Bertuzzi for the top six would be great. Adding one more d-man with size and grit would also be great.

Domi would replace bunting’s offense and not be in the crosshairs of the officials. |

I think everyone is reading way too much into what he said. They sound like the kind of thing that players say on every team after a loss. And he wasn’t very good himself. |

Yeah, one guy doesn't resign strictly because of money (and that's just what Dreger said, so who knows) and all of a sudden Toronto is Edmonton. |

It's the collective I think of that statement then it not being about money and term and going elsewhere. Sounds like coach/culture in the room sort of thing there but yeah likely reading into things a bit too.
Still we lost a lot yesterday and did not get a whole lot back. As it stands we got a hole on wing on line 2 and 3, goaltending, and the defence hasn't gotten better. We're a bit of a mess and have to wait and see what Tree comes up with here but so far it has been a whole lot of meh and disappointment and we aren't as good as we were.

would say there might be a bit of that with Dubas leaving. They had established a good thing but the shakeup likely played a factor, albeit minor. |

(frank). A bit expensive too.
I would have much rather seen Acciari at 2.4 than Kampf if that's what it took. You don't need to pay that much for a guy to take D-zone faceoffs and not much else. |

Players can’t say anything in Toronto without it blowing up, that’s why we get nothing but cliches.
We didn’t win with these rentals so I don’t care if we bring any of them back. Boston spent big at the deadline, lost, and didn’t re-sign their guys but you don’t hear squat about it. |

$4.5M for an aging 3C is not something the Leafs can do. (frank) him and the horse he rode in on.
