No taxes there.

Cash only.

I am surprised more players don't go there.

Tyler Bertuzzi is joining the #leafs on a one-year contract worth $5.5M AAV.

I like this one ....Bertuzzi >> Bunting. I pencil him on the left of 34 and let him have a big year.

Maybe sending Nylander for Zadorov and either a 2nd or another player from Calgary would be a great deal. It would easily cancel out the Nylander contract when signing Bertuzzi. If they could just find a way to add Matt Murray in the deal, it gives the Leafs more salary cap to build up the bottom 6.

Nylander for Zadarov and maybe a 2nd you say? .....

If the Leafs are gonna trade Nylander, why would they do it at a loss?

At least get a return worthy of trading him.

Right, I have no idea why people think Willy is so worthless.

Maybe try Zadorov, Dube, 1st.

Skalapy just came in his pants. Bert is dirtier and younger than Poon Jenner.

. I didn't say Nylander but a 6'6" left D who hits like a truck and can pot ten goals is something we've never seen on a Leaf team...

Bertuzzi looking for 5-7 years North of 5M

Domi looking for 2 years

What's a little bit of a pay cut for Domi? He was willing to take a pay cut to be a leaf last year but Dubas said no.

Seriously do not have a clue what a right cap hit looks like for Domi on the open market for any team. 4M? Idk.

I think Craig Button has some alts on here.

I'd rather keep 88 if that's the kind of return. I'd need an impact blue liner or an impact top6 fwd in return.

As a rental he'd be worth multiple 1sts at that deadline or high end prospects. Not that they'd be in a position to deal him but just in terms of value.

Why not? Zadarov contract is $3.75M with one year to go. He had 14 goals last year and is a large, tough defenseman. That contract and Tyler Bertuzzi's one year contract would cancel out Willy's contract with maybe $1M to spare.

Let him play with JT for the first bit, see if he fits with "the team" and then after he signs an new extension at a decent price, let him get mad pointz with Matthews and Marner.

Marner will get 11bazillion regular season pts next year, his balls are going to fully drop playing with Bertuzzi.

Some bad math there. Willy's cap hit this year is 6.9 million. 5.5 + 3.75 is not 1 less than 6.9.

Agreed. Hard to win a Nylander trade. Rather keep him. Top pairing d-man or a top six forward or its a no-go

It's the Cap savings. Think of it this way. Once Nylander gets traded, his $10M per ask is off the table. What's stopping the Leafs from re-signing Bertuzzi anytime this year on an 8 year deal? He could only have gotten 7 on this signing. You would technically be adding Zadorov and Bertuzzi for Nylander if you look straight cap.

I'd go even further and say you need both. You already have the impact top 6 forward in Willy. Why trade him just to maybe end up where you started?
