I wish Gibson didn't have 4 more years, and I wish Helley had 2 years left instead of just 1.

The real question is after taking into account what it would cost to acquire, the length they are under contract for and what a new contract for Helley would cost would be, which would you prefer?

At this point neither team is going to get their ideal return for either goalie.

Helley has one year left at $6.1 Gibson 4 left at $6.4

If you go after Gibson and Levi is ready and takes over full time in 2 seasons he is then due for a new contract so you're paying your goalies $10-$14 million total.

Still not awful but that is a lot of money tied up on your goaltenders.

But Helley could walk in a year and that might not be enough time to gage Levi.

Gibson is my target...even though I think Helley is better.

Gibson plays 50 games Levi plays 32 in year one.

Since Gibson dropped that bomb, be interesting to see if things have changed in his mind. Hell he comes here turns back the clock 4yrs and plays good for a few years, probably flip him for a different piece that could be needed.

Well I assumed someone was getting injured and we would get like 10 or so games of comrie or UPL as well
- IndianaSabresFan

That also happens. In the current NHL starters don’t play as many games are they used to.

Ullmark played 49
Helleybuck played 64
Gibson played 53
Sorokin (islanders goalie) played 62
Shesterkin played 58

Ideally, I think 50-55 starts for a starting goalie seems like a good spot

I wonder if there is a way to get the Ducks to retain some on him

That’s a huge gap to fill. How many Johnson’s will it take
- IndianaSabresFan

I hear he’s looking for a Johnson to put in the crease too.

I'm lukewarm on him to begin with, but at that salary and term, not interested at all.

I think most of you are putting too much stock into Levi.

Is he going to be be good? Most likely.

But he’s a rookie goalie coming out of college. Expecting him to play 50+ games is a pipe dream idea.

Helleybuck or Gibson ideally coming in and play 50-55 and give the rest to Levi.

Levi has played 6-7 NHL games. He’s not an NHL vet with 4-5 years of professional hockey experience

I disagre.

Paying assets and $ long term to helly or Gibson is a mistake. Especially Gibson, he sucks.

Yes last summer. But the Sabres are in a completely different place organization wise and he demanded out

If I’m Adams. I make that phone call

- Sabretooth9

I don’t think Gibson moves the needle enough. Will he be willing to share the crease with Levi? I doubt it.

If there that high on Levi, do we need a true number 1. If the talk is right and Levi is the man then we need someone who can give us 30 to 35 games. Who is out there that can do that and atleast give us a save % above 900-905 range.
- Buff36

I don’t think the problem is necessarily faith in Levi, it’s faith in UPL if something happens

In your opinion what constitutes “long-term”? I feel like a 3 year deal is perfect for our timeline.

It’s a little of both. Levi is still untested and that’s a huge burden to put on a rookie. You’re right though, UPL is the primary concern. That’s a guy I think is NHL quality, but probably won’t hit his stride until he has at least 4 or 5 seasons under his belt.

Gibson starts 53 out of 82 games last year. He shares pretty nicely

Don’t worry he’s already turned down the Sabres twice.

As much as I make fun of Adams, pegula fuucked the Sabres. His dumb bimbo wife was the worst thing to happen to Buffalo sports since Fitz learned about this website.

Players aren’t dumb, they know Adams has limitations as GM, “just enough to keep hope alive”

As goofy as it looks in Toronto, this is the 1st offseason that they are doing what needs to be done to address their actual needs, not desires.

Sabres as of today are still soft

>>> Chris Johnston on the CJ Show says it's not going well between the Leafs and William Nylander, they just see the world differently.

Nylander believes he should be a $10 million player or just a little above that on his next contract, whereas the Leafs have come at him with a number in the $8 million range.

Probably 2 years, but I'm kinda sold on levi.

I think he's a phenom and gonna play 50-55 next year.

3 years for a good back up IMO.
