2. Johnson and Clifton taking away minutes from the Brysons of the world
3. Our young stars are a year older

Counter arguments.

1) Levi - complete unknown. Hope he’s really good, but a rookie with no pro experience.

2) Johnson is not good and is regressing at age 35. He may not even be full time. Clifton is fine for 3rd pair anything else is less than ideal.

3) progression isn’t linear. A year older doesn’t mean a year better. You hope it does but It doesn’t always. Also “sophomore slump” is a term for a reason.

Levi will not post better than a 2.85 and .899 this year if he plays more than 25 games.

Johnson could be blind and be better than Bryson - he literally was the worst Dman in the league and Joker was a disaster when used in the 4 roll. For Clifton, look at his usage with Boston last year - first 25 games, 1st pair, then McAvoy came back; next 40 games; 2nd pair then Orlov was traded for; last 20 games and playoffs; 3rd pair. He wasn't good in the 3rd pair but was extremely good as a 2 and a 4. He plays best when paired with an elite defenseman. Too bad we don't have one of those....wait...Power

Here's my opinion Adams and Company have done a lot to change the culture and built up a nice system. Some outside see the change and the possible growth. But players also see and talk about when you aren't willing to go that extra mile to get a player or Add to your team to improve it. Yes Adams is trying and listening but how many times did he not pull the trigger on a possible deal. It's nice to be patient, but agents and players take notice of things if it happens over a period of time.
