That's why I posed the question of using 13m differently. Most teams don't prioritize the bottom of their roster like that. - Lunaion
I would kill to have a Ryan Lomberg on this team. But instead we get Okposo and Girglesons |

You're just trying to take the fun out of it. If they pay one of them to be 7D, they are still paying him. - Lunaion
But who cares? hes not gunna be a fixture on the team. I doubt even the fans care. Id care way more if he were their 6th best option. |

ROR has to know that if he goes to Nashville that they aren't serious cup competitors any time soon. They made a few moves just to become a middling roster.
https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/predators
Interesting to see that they are still paying Kyle Turris 2 mill a year for the next 5 (five) years after his buyout. They are going to have between 3.5 and 8.5 mill in dead space for the next 5 years. - Slump Buster
Pretty sure you misread the details on the Nashville dead cap, as you didn't add the retained salary and buy out history together. |

Are we gunna ignore the idea that those guys may not want to play in buffalo? I also dont see it as them making the bottom six a prioirty. They chose a known over unknown.
And yes i know "we know they suck" most bottom six players do. And many of the ones available in FA were significantly worse. Hard for people to fathom because the associate girgensons with all the misery of the last 12 years. |

The things he's actually done so far are ok. Erik Johnson is puzzling to say the least, Clifton is solid, a warm body that's not a liability and can actually play defense which is needed, and Jost is a solid 4th liner.
It's the gaping, oozing, puss filled holes in the roster not getting attention for the last 3 years that are what's going to kill the team. |

I swear the amount of rope Adams has been given by fans for doing almost nothing besides sell of Jack Eichel over a three year period is insane. You can count on one hand the amount of NHL contributors that he’s brought in on the roster that make a difference
Most of this current team is Botterill’s and there’s even Murray/Darcy players left.
No one wants him fired, but my god how about some standards? Connor Clifton as their big D add is an absolute joke I’m sorry - sbroads24
Top 2 centers locked in for 7 years at minimum wage.
No credit for betting on tage and cozens early?

I'm going to watch Band of Brothers and pretend the Sabres traded for a goalie.
I reject this reality and substitute my own |

I get being upset over the state of the goaltending, the options in the top 4, and the worries over the scoring perhaps drying up in the top six. All totally valid and integral parts of this team making the playoffs.
I cannot believe how many people here care about which bottom six guys they could have overpaid instead in FA to play 8 minutes and suck. This is absolutely not why they missed the playoffs. Nor would Eakin 2.0 be the reason we make it.

Yea of course I was hyperbolizing. He’s done a few good things obviously.
But he’s yet to put a stamp on the NHL roster in a meaningful way outside of Tuch.
Levi is possibly that too but it’s way too early to say. He might take 2-3 years to become a legit workhorse goalie.
It’s 7/2, offseason started recently and the Sabres are so god damn boring Pegulaville is talking about 2-3 years down the road already instead of his usual “next year”.

If Girgensons did literally anything else to move the needle aside from his defensive prowess, fine, but he doesn't. He can't skate for poop, has cinderblocks for hands, has zero nose for the net, doesn't hit, doesn't agitate, doesn't fight. He just occupies space, that's it.
Oh, and he's overpaid by like 100% |

Again, most of the one year bottom six options are basically this. They are either defense only, or faceoff guys. Anyone who has even half of the attributes you listed is going to be playing significantly more minutes, making more money and with term.
If I thought his deal was preventing them from making other moves, like in net, id be upset. But it shouldn't |

It’s July 2nd 2023.
You’re actually talking about something that’s not happening until what 2025 at the earliest?
Seek help - sbroads24
For what being optimistic?
We’re really complaining about trying to select the best player available in a draft in a league where it’s difficult to find regular players.
Like ffs.
I guess it’s more respectable if I was 36 and a half and coming on here for 8 hours a day for the last 3 months having meltdowns about my GM not having a big summer by July 2nd.
Who should be the one seeking help ? |

A lot of missed opportunities. Dedicating 3 of 12 spots to Jost, Okposo, Girgensons without seeing what was available first was a new GM mistake. We owe them nothing. Your job is to improve the team, Period. That’s my opinion. |

They don't suck. Is it a good use of 13m? You seem to be dodging from every angle you can think of.
and I do think they made veteran leadership at the bottom of roster a priority

I’m pretty optimistic about 2-3 years down the road too.
Talking about it on the second day of the offseason because your team is always so god damn boring is my problem.

That veteran leadership has never led us to shat, ever! Yet, they’ve collectively collected enough money from us to buy the city of Lockport |
