Which is not fine.
- washedup20

No, it is completely fine. You can't make him into something he isn't. That said, he isn't soft (Mike Wilson comes to mind as a big guy that was softer than the other side of the pillow).

Goalie Michael Houser is also back with Rochester on an AHL contract. Important depth add at the position.

- Lunaion

Capfriendly has the Sabres down to 23 contracts vs 25, UPL, Tokarski and Cooley already slotted for Rochester:

What is going on down there?

I would imagine some bodies might be targeted for ECHL

I think he’s going to be better than both of them in his prime. Those two are comparables for his style of play though

Also both of those guys are yearly top 10 D men in their prime so why is that so bad?

- sbroads24

If those are the comps, and that's the expectation, there should be 0 to worry about regarding his contract. He will play 2nd fiddle to Dahlin for his career.

If you can't find one good backup, find 6 not good backups.
- Hank Balling

I’m too lazy. But if you look at all their nhl stats 🏠 may have the best.

Dahlin at worst is the third or fourth best D man in hockey though.

He’s playing second fiddle no matter what for the next 4/5 years

Unless he uses his 6'6" frame and plays mean, add that to his elite talent and there is the number 1 defenseman in the game, which to me should be the expectation as a 1OA pick.

Myers has been suspended like 4 times for questionable or flat out dirty hits.

I never understood the narrative that he’s soft

Sabres are going with a new Revolutionary Strategy this year. The 8-4-8, taking Hanks idea and pushing the envelope even farther.

We can have 4 goalies laying at the Blueline skate to skate, pads stacked, be are new Definsive system. Girgensons can show his leadership and show them how to get down there since he's had a lot of practice laying on the ice.

I must have missed it - which elite defenseman are known as being "mean"? I think you're thinking of an era that passed long ago. You're way too hung up on his size.

How could you be "fine" with 6'6 and soft?

Wait - so now he is soft?

I said I was fine that his style of play isn't like that of Scott Stevens. Nobody is Scott Stevens. He doesn't have snarl. Do Vegas fans get upset that Pietrenagelo isn't hitting people left and right? How about Dougie Hamlilton? The best all-around D that I've seen in my lifetime was Lidstrom. Was he knocking people out of games?

Better yet, what is the minimum height at which we expect our D to have snarl? Jesus H, isn't it good enough that he is a fantastic play-driving defenseman that isn't within a country mile of his ceiling?

In the 5 years they counted hits while Lidstrom was closing his career he reached over 50 hits once.

In his whole career he had 3 seasons over 40 pim's.
