Its a risk, and if it backfires its definitely on Adams. But I will begrudgingly wait until September before I quit on them
- Michael Ghofrani

I’m not quitting on them or Adams specifically. They aren’t getting replaced unless the season goes to absolute hell and even then who knows.

But they should operate like winning is priority #1.

There’s no reason to me why they weren’t in on a few of the forwards who went for Pennie’s and that’s including Toffoli before free agency began.

This was the year to bridge to Kulich-Savoie-Rosen even before the Quinn injury

Ohh as annoyingly riding the fence as I have been, If the G tandem is Levi and one of Comrie/UPL, Im 100% out on them. It would be incredibly unserious and very unentertaining.

I’m not kidding when I say that I think that’s possibly the most egregious thing any Sabre coach or GM will have done during the drought.

You could ruin Levi before he’s ready for a serious workload.

No im pretty much there too, thus the dramatic response. Its also one of the easiest ways to show your team, and others around the league, that you are serious about next year.

Bringing stability to a young team is something anyone, analytics or old school, can get behind, even if its short term.

Really believe some early failure would ruin him? I've never believed development is that fragile.

Not ruin, but certainly set back development.

If everything we've heard about Levi is true, I'd expect it to motivate him.

Thats the problem, you hear this about a lot of goalies. Wildly unpredictable position and probably one where you dont want to overtax the guy.

Also can't just assume he's the guy. You hope he is, and looks the part but putting all their eggs in that basket is kinda bad team building.

Agreed. Sending him down needs to be an option. Tokarski gives you that, assuming you have someone who can handle the starter role.

Still struggling with the idea that they will be able to add that guy + move UPL and Comrie, but Tokarski is good to have around.

I think one gets waived, and the other is used in a trade. I cant say which cause idk anything about goaltending value.

I’m not sure it will or won’t. What I do know is that If he’s not ready this year and goaltending kills them, what do they do next year? I think we know the answer, it’s banking on Levi being ready next year.

Must be close on something. Cooley + Tokarski aren't normally guys you rush to sign.

Like I said, need to be prepared to send him down. Seems like they will be. See how it unfolds from there.

No reason to bet everything on him.

It also seems very unlike them to coddle others but decide that goaltending is whatever.

I think they're just waiting for prices to come down a bit.

Would love to hear an opinion from someone who has looked harder than I have, but I don't see who is in a position to trade their starter with a dead UFA market. Imagine there's someone under the radar, but the big names don't make much sense anymore.

maybe not their starter but I do wonder about Kyochetkov after Hurricanes brought back Andersen and Raanta.

Him or maybe Forsberg in OTT. I think theyve incorrectly committed to the wrong goalie and might move him if they want Sogaard to be the backup.

Forsberg makes some sense. If they think Sogaard is ready, then UPL/Comrie don't fit there. It's a puzzle.

The contracts the Canes gave Andersen and Raanta make it pretty obvious that their young Russian goaltender is their guy long term.

They're not trading him unless they had some sudden, massive change of heart.

Imagine if we actually get Gibson or helleybuck for dirt cheap?

With such a weak goalie market ….
Olofsson joker and UPL could work.
