Also if Clifton is in the box…how does the bottom 5 PK group improve next season? - washedup20
He only took 60 PIM. Not a ton by any stretch; especially with a handful of majors. Dahlin needs to clean up the lazy penalties at the end of games. I know a lot of them were ticky tacky, but they were still lazy getting the stick in on the hands.
Buffalo Sabres: B+
The Sabres added two defensemen in Erik Johnson and Connor Clifton who make them a much deeper team on the blue line. Don Granato now has a lot more options when it comes to mixing and matching his defensive pairs in certain situations. The Sabres also tried to add a forward but have been unable to do so to this point. That’s the only thing keeping this grade from being a bit higher. But defense was the priority, and the Sabres added two strong pieces. — Matthew Fairburn - homiedclown

That’s good on Clifton, one of those players listed would help minimize those situations with Dahlin.

I have a feeling Dahlin is going to go absolutely ape poop on someone this year. It's been building for years
Situations in Philly, Calgary, Winnipeg, and to an extent Anaheim interest me. - Swedish_Jesus
Id rule out any canadian teams, they are operate like its a totally different world.
Prices are probably too high in ANA or PHI for either of their goalies. We'll see if that changes but Im more inclined to think that theyll piggy back on one of these deals. Take the goalie that Hart or Gibson might replace.

I mean Trevling handled that about as poorly as a GM could and Conroy was there for the whole ride.
Now you got Lindholm, Tanev, Kylington, Zadorov, Hanifin, and Backlund staring down the barrel of free agency….

I’d have to imagine something has to give there. - Swedish_Jesus
Awkward spot for them though. They pushed a political campaign for the party that would back funding the arena with public money, and they won. But now fans are like, if we're doing this, we're not really in the mood for a tear down.
I dont believe every fan shares this sentiment, but if enough of them do, it could affect the when on how they eventually move on from people who dont want to re-sign.

Time will tell.
Hanifin has already stated he doesn’t want to re-sign.
