You might be right.

But if you don’t have those guys. Then other teams know you have a major hole you need to fill and will Try to take advantage

Why KA can't get moves made is something I'd love to know. Sure seems like there's some Darcyness.

Goes up to $1,150,000 this year, to be precise. But then you're going to replace him with someone.

Also remember they are going to pay a fair amount of bonuses this year. I don't think they are going to want to take a penalty into next season.

- Lunaion

The Bryson replacements are already on the roster though. We have 9 NHL d-men.

Not including Ryan Johnson or Clague who could be called up if need be.

Swapping out UPL for Comrie on cap friendly and now we are at the proverbial ~$8M in cap space I alluded to.

Even if you want to save money for bonuses, that’s still $4-5M in cap space.

If they want to get nutty and waive Olofsson if they can’t find a trade partner for him then that’s another $1.15M (not saying they will but the option exists if they absolutely have to become cap compliant)

Sabres definitely have some cap dumps coming.

Like moving olofsson. Comrie. We can create space if we had to

- Sabretooth9

If Comrie gets sent down and clears, Sabres save about $1.1m, leaving about $700k Cap hit...not a big deal to try to keep him as insurance.

Moving Olofsson, Bryson, Joker and one of Lyubushkin / Stillman clears out ~$13m. IMO, those should be the targets to move.

Sure, but there's only 12F, so you're going to add 1. You also need a bit of a cushion for injuries.

I agree that they could make some moves, but as things stand, it feels like they need to move some money out to do much now. These offseason moves don't feel designed to dance around the max. Spent a lot of their space on the bottom of the roster.

Sabres missed the playoffs by 1 point and it was mostly due to goaltending and lack of depth.

They still have the flexibility to add a top 4 d-men and improve their goaltending in the short term.

The Quinn injury puts a damper on things though no doubt, so ideally they add another depth forward in the mix here or they really believe in Rousek/Kulich/Savoie to grab a spot that other wise wouldn’t have been available to them this year.

I guess we’ll see how it plays out.

Opportunity is there, it's just much trickier now with the roster size + cap. I think Michael was right when he said he thought a secondary trade for a G was more likely.

Exactly. It’s not rocket science to clear space.

Sure really depends on which one goes down, right know CapFriendly has UPL in Rochester. What are you saving switching them.

So like was said not much, there's ways to find Cap room, just a lot harder this year than it ever really has been. Escrow finally caught up, and it's affecting a lot of teams.

KA was in cap position to do so much more this offseason. Spent it all on the bottom of the roster.

Curious what remaining guys like Tatar and Pius Suter get. KA would have been in a great position to improve the team now.

And people are Happy about it, and even worse is there were better players available to even fill those rolls.

He still could sign a Tatar or Suter.

If he doesn’t, it’s not due to cap space

you would think we lost the eastern conference in the semis game 7

instead of the longest nhl playoff drought of all time

team is not close to competing for a cup right now

Do I think this is a cup contender ? No

Do I think this is a playoff that should make the playoffs ? Yes.

why settle for a team that may or may not make the playoffs in year 4 of your gm tenure with dahlin, power, tage, cozens, tuch, and skinner

the settling for this is what pisses off half the sabre fans on here and assuming everything will fall into place

we are a levi groin injury, or a dahlin acl or a tage bum shoulder away from a top 10 pick in 11 months, and you can't say that about the good teams

what's wrong with wanting to be one of those good teams

Yep a handful of guys must feel the need to come here to redirect their anger from life/whatever. Would have loved to see their post during the JB or earlier era.

We’ll see if KA is done, I doubt he is. Betting he has at least two moves left; 1 or 2 players coming in and 2-4 players going out. Also there’s the simple moves of sending Bryson to Rochester and Comrie to Rochester (If UPL isn’t traded)
