Fair point about getting some sort of value hack. I still don’t think they got much |

Tarasenko is older now.
I wouldn’t consider that a win moving Cat out and bringing Tarasenko in - Sabretooth9
I mean it depends on term.
If you’re getting Tarasenko for 1-2 years then I think you’re doing ok.
If Ottawa gives him 4-5 years then you’re just doubling down on your crap sandwich when he inevitably falls off the age cliff. |

Nah because my biggest criticism of Adams is he’s playing everything way too safe.
The Sens got a year of DeBrincat and recouped 85% of what they gave up for him.
They took a swing, and it didn’t pan out long term but it also didn’t ruin them like people pretended it would. - sbroads24
The Sabres gave up literally nothing to bring Taylor Hall in here, yet walked away with an offensively gifted prospect in the 2021 draft.
They took a swing. Didn't pan out. Didn't ruin them. You lambasted Adams for that trade, but Dorian gets a pass?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😜😜😜😜😜
Your spoiled, only child hockey takes are brutally awful.
You should picket outside the arena. Might be more effective than coming in here every day and incessantly whining. |

I’d usually remain civil and try and explain why I think there’s a difference
However I’m just going to call you a moron and move on. |

Difference being we gave up no assets for Hall and essentially bought a 2nd round pick ?
10000x better then the asset management you’re giving Dorion credit for.

Im not giving him credit for the asset management or the trade at all. In the end it didn’t work out for them.
Only thing I’m giving any credit for is not being afraid to make a significant move and not live in fear of a mistake. The Sens got a 1st back for him.
Hall was signed as a UFA to a 1 year deal. No risk and little reward. Classic Adams |

So is Pierre Dorion a good GM then ?
He’s active every season, yet time and time again the only reward Senators fans get is a fist in their a$$ ?
But hey at least he’s active ? |

I didn’t say he’s a good GM.
But yeah it’s probably kinda fun as a fan when your team goes after big fish. I mean sports are entertainment right? |

Sports are also a business.
I’d be shocked if the Sabres are done with the amount of NHL d-men on the roster.
Something has to give, but I don’t think Adams and company trying to be efficient and methodical is the same as being “risk averse”.
I’d say taking swings on Savoie and Benson in back to back drafts is the farthest thing from playing it safe.
But to each their own |

The Taylor Hall trade is a tough one as it looked like a team 'going for it' while it turned out we were a salary cap holding place for the Bruins and NMC guaranteed they could get him back. Lesson learned for rookie GM I hope.
Eichel injury didn't help.

I mean what it really comes down to is, is it better to strike out swinging or strike out looking. |

It’s ok. Top 5 GM is currently living in fear with 11 defensemen and 5 #3 caliber goaltenders and no replacement for Quinn.
No excuses summer is going great.

Also, I can all but guarantee that the narrative here would be “wow look at Adams getting back all that for a guy that didn’t work out for them. He got back nearly everything he paid” - ImThatGuy
Isn't this exactly what is being said by the Nay Sayers about The Sens. Except, they fail to account for the value of time, 2 higher picks in 2022 are valued more than 2 latter picks in 2024, or even 2025.
Sens lost. I guess good on them for trying and failing, lol?...exactly what the Nay Sayers criticize Adams for. |

Within the strict confines of the Q being asked
Looking cost nothing. Swinging costs.
I'd rather swing and win. |

As we talked about before, these moves that you are so infatuated with are the results of teams trying to plug holes. Ottawa's prospect pool is dry so they traded futures for Debrincat and Chychrun. They had nothing else coming.
And again, there is always a presumption that moves = best way to get better |

Again, there is always the presumption that moves = best way to get better, faster. So Adams doesn't make any moves and team makes huge jumps in points. Ottawa makes moves and finished behind us.
Its also ironic that you're good with other GMs getting a "trying" label but then chide Adams for his perceived efforts.

how does the trade look if the sens sign Tarasenko tomorrow - homiedclown
Still a horrible trade for them. Gave up the #7 pick and 39 now might have to wait 2 years to get a 1st back only to miss the playoffs last year.
Like I said, non difference makers like the cat are available every year, no need to overpay like Ottawa did last year.
If ottowa can get Tank for free (other then FA money) so can we, and we didn't lose Benson in doing it |

The hall move was fantastic. I screamed for years to weaponize the cap and it was one time we finally did it. One of his best moves |
