The contracts the Canes gave Andersen and Raanta make it pretty obvious that their young Russian goaltender is their guy long term.
They're not trading him unless they had some sudden, massive change of heart. - kingcong39
He's also clearly too good for the AHL so unless theyre carrying 3 thats where he's headed. Its unlikely but still interesting what they'd do. I doubt he's thrilled with it. |

Forsberg makes some sense. If they think Sogaard is ready, then UPL/Comrie don't fit there. It's a puzzle. - Lunaion
Yeah you might need a third team involved, someone that needs a backup. |

Only Dubois so far.
We already have the better version in Cozens signed to an even better contract - Swedish_Jesus
So is the Salary Cap gonna magically get better over the summer for a lot of Teams. I will be surprised if there's a lot of trades this offseason other than tweaks. A lot of teams can't afford to take celery or contracts back. Teams don't have to trade this year, there were and still are good hockey players available for cheap. |

He's probably not thrilled about it, but it's a one year situation, maximum.
It's good work by Carolina as they're one of the few teams who have three NHL caliber goaltenders. |

Yes he is signed, played last year. Yes maybe they are protecting there young goalie instead of thinking he should play 60 games his 1st full year in the league. |

Does wanting to come to Buffalo trump everything in signings or trades. If it's I am not sure, I believe this team can do things but I need to come feel the vibes before I commit long term. It could turn into a beautiful partnership but 1yr is all I will commit to right know. Does Adams decide it's not a vibes fit because he's not 100% committed at this point. |

I mean ultimately potentially a future Bills or Sabres player does need to “want to come to Buffalo.”
They will be living here for an entire season. That won’t ever change.
Like think about the Flames and Jets for example ……. Players don’t want to live there and are asking out.
Unless they pay you a ton of money. (Jonathan Hubadeau and weegar)
You most likely don’t want to be there
That is why Quebec is not even talked about as a future NHL city |

Yes he would, but that isn't the ?, just because a player isn't 100% sure about what will happen here and wants a short term deal to see if it's a fit, should not be a death sentence on signing him. If it is then you are possibly losing out on players that could help your team even in the short term or lose out on a longer term fix. |

Going off the assumed plan Gerbe provided, the team begins to compete in 2024 or 25. This would be the time round out the core and identify what complimentary pieces are required and learn the cost to acquire.
That could be why players who could improve the roster immediately were passed...or did they try to grab some of those pieces but they chose elsewhere, so why change the message?
This is either planned limbo or Adams is ineffective at obtaining the required players to build a winner. |

Imagine if we actually get Gibson or helleybuck for dirt cheap?
With such a weak goalie market ….
Olofsson joker and UPL could work. - Sabretooth9
1 year of Hellebuyck for a 3rd and UPL would be a massive W

Yes, yes it would and I would only complain 58% of the time I came here then. It's a Win Win scenario!! |

I agree with that. I think teams that reach out to NHL media to say things like this ……. Just shows you the goalie market isn’t there.
It’s like a giant SOS call to hopefully stir up the market and draw interest
Also shows Adams isn’t willing to take a massive L / overpay for a goalie

Adams has proven he will sign 1 year deals as NHL roster fillers while the kids are in roch
I think Taylor hall was truly the only 1 year deal to “feel it out” and we know how that went |

Sabres have so much talent coming up the pipeline at Forward they could use a good prospect for Hellebuyck even if it was only for 1yr. I would trade Ostlund or Rosen for 1yr of Hellebuyck. The growth of the team could be immense and two fold with Him helping Levi adjust. |

I am not talking fillers, and Hall should have nothing to do with this other than scaring Adams. Very different scenario playing out this year with Cap Constraints and good Hockey players signing pretty cheap contracts for what they probably would have gotten in a normal year. |

Interesting interview about Clifton on WGR from a Boston writer.
Said he’s a 3rd pairing D man but he has the ability to play well with numerous players. Played well with Lindholm when injuries hit |

My buddy who is a bruins fan said he’s a perfect d parent for someone who is offensive.
So Dahlin or power works perfect.
Chara also mentored him since the start of his career. So he can help the kids |

They’re going to try to play him in the top 4 like they did Boosh.
Not the high end D we wanted. Adams and company are going bargain bin shopping hoping he can play bigger minutes. |
