Nah they ain’t trading Laf. Not getting value back so what’s the point. How I look at it is he has two years (bridge deal) to make a name for himself. After two years of it’s more or the same he’ll probably move to a different org
He needs to be on PP1 to fulfill his potential. Period stop end of story. How many former 1 OA, hell even top 5, picks have never had that 3-4 years into a career? I imagine the answer is zero. It has nothing to do with earning it either, it’s just we have these all stars who are ahead of him on the depth chart.
This should be PP1 next season
Fox
Kreider
Zib
Chytil
Laf
PP2
Panarin
Kakko
Trocheck
Miller
Xxxx (could be any number of guys)

Well then our prized possession will never hit the mark he should🤷🏻♂️let’s continue to ruin him. Only other option is Panarin over Chytil but we need another shooter on it. Zib can’t be the only shooter, that’s when we’re predictable |

I agree Laf needs PP time. I think him over Chytil on PP1 is way more likely than Bread being on the 2nd unit. |

If the pp is going to be split evenly in terms of time then it doesn’t really matter Who’s pp1 vs pp2 |

It’s a frustrating thing with LaFreniere.
He needs to do more in the way of his conditioning. But the bigger issue IMO, is his utilization. I’ve never seen a F picked that high, come right to the NHL, and be given so little ice time and opportunity. Kreider and Panarin being ahead of him on the depth chart, and not moving him to the other W haven’t helped either.
Usually with a kid like him, they come in and play top six minutes with your best players and get drives of time on the PP. And they get it right away. He hasn’t had any of that.
I think if that changes, he’ll blossom.
And it isn’t as if he’s been non-productive. Numbers are good given the circumstances. |

That would help but, it’s been 1:30/:30 split pretty much for two years (GG may have wanted that idk). Fox is the only one who should come close to two minutes on it
To me it’s about getting Laf confidence, that should lead to him erasing a lot of the questions he currently has |

Depends who is deployed. If I see either of these two out there, I'm gonna laugh in frustration.

The new staff?
With all the talent they have, they could actually have two permanent units and rotate them in a game, one starts the pp and the other starts the next one |

They can want a powerplay spilt all they want. But it won’t matter cause Panarin refuses to ever come of the ice lol. He has to lead the league in overextended shifts |

I love the arguing over the powerplay as if the coaching staff wasn't changed completely
because Gallant put Goodrow out there a couple of times Tom believes it will happen every second under Laviolette |
