Clickbait BS...
That said, the only way this would even come close to being considered by Carolina is if the Sharks retain max dollars.
I think the Burns-Karlsson being oil-water talk is a little over stated. I think they could thrive together in the right system. Sharks had a great stretch when they were both healthy. And things really fell apart when the Sharks canned Deboer (good head coach) and promoted Boughner (not good head coach). |

Obviously the deal would make a ton of sense for SJ...Carolina not much - especially with DeAngelo coming in - unless they deal Burns? I could see a play for DeBrincat or Nylander, but unless either is coming in signed, this would be way too much to pay... - mventres
Oh it's definitely too much, so I of course would hope they get something like this. |

Geeze Ek, tough time generating clicks? This is laughable even by your made up standards. |

So what does Chicago get in this deal, since willing to take on considerable amount of money for four years. Imo if it's Carolina getting EK then have to think Suzuki and 2nd or something like that. |

Remember the 3-way deal where Karlsson goes back to Ottawa, DeBrincat goes back to Chicago, and San Jose gets Tyler Johnson and a draft pick. An unnamed 4th GM shared that one with Ek. It's gone kinda quiet though. I think it was an E4. Would be huge. |

Did Mike Grier write this as his wish list? Why would the Hurricanes give up on a 21 yr old 1st rounder who has shown to be consistent defensively and adds offense that will only get better? Additionally, why would they trade one of the best shutdown 2nd pairing defensemen in the league who is in his prime? That alone is a MAJOR over payment. The Canes haven't done anything that crazy under this new management.
Like Brian Burke says, "I checked with the league office and confirmed they are only awarding 1 Stanley Cup this year". That kind of trade doesn't guarantee anything and gives up WAAAYYY too much futures.
Just insane fodder there. |

Karlsson is a great player on a bad team. Not sure where he would fit on a team aspiring to win a cup. |

Canes just signed Dylan Coghlan to a 1 yr, 1 way deal for $850k. so that would make sense if they are shipping out Pesce as they will need a cheaper contract if they are taking on at least half of karlsson's contract |

It's all about domino's. The first has to fall to get the deep complicated deals through. |

Valsic and Phillips roos supposedly filling those spots. Of course depending on what happen at training camp could be different outcome. |

We know all your rumors are just made up crap for clicks, I get it, it's what pays the bills, but can you make them a little reasonable. This is probably one of the worst ones you've come up with.

Why on Earth would anyone want to reunite Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson? Was it not made abundantly clear last season that Karlsson's output is strongly tied to having the undisputed #1PP role? He's statistically 40% more productive without Burns, and now has Norris Trophy wins with two different teams where he was the #1D. - khawk
Only 25% of Karlssons point were from the PP the issue is moreso he had a ridiculously high shooting % for a defenseman and he was healthy. No way that gets done at that price.
