The buyout is open now regardless if it is settled or an award takes place. Once the contract happens you have 48 hours to complete a buyout.

Doesn’t matter either way. Dubas isn’t buying out Granlund.

I’m pretty sure the player needs to be awarded 4.5 million for the second buyout to open. DOC isn’t going to hit that number.

No. The player being bought out must have a cap hit of at least 4m.

For instance NYR gets an arbitration buyout window but cannot buyout their top candidate in Goodrow because his cap hit is only 3.6ish m

If it means fitting EK under the cap I think it happens. Otherwise I agree.

Well CDS is better so you’d hope that’s the case. Ned is there so you have a goalie that at least was once an NHL capable starter when Jarry gets hurt.

Yeah I guess 1 year in Carolina is an easy way to skew stats into your next contract.

He had a good start in Detroit but he unravels quickly. One goes in he wants back and then you blink and he’s given up 3 more.

If you’re dumping Petry you wouldn’t have to buyout Granlund. Don’t think the 2 moves would have any relation.

That's only if SJ retains enough to equal things out. I still don't have hope for a buyout, but a guy can dream.

It just seems like every team EK is rumored with is having a really hard time finding cap space....and San Jose doesn't want to retain enough. It just feels like he'll be suiting up for the Sharks again.

Everyone is double/triple checking their math before they agree to a complicated 3 way deal.

Dubas said it's a last resort and he'd like to get more creative. But if it's not working then he'll do what he needs to do.

Sure, they’re not Led Zeppelin but they’re alright.

Is it safe to say Foo Fighters > or = to Nirvana after all those years?

Nirvana was more iconic. They transitioned grunge into the 90's version. Even if you didn't like them it's hard to deny their impact on 90's music.
