I figured it'd be a deal like this, but a more premium prospect than Sebrango. More likely Wallinder or Johansson. This is an absolute W. The contract is just the cherry on top. |

I’m in shock. It felt like sides were dug in. I’ll miss Kubalik but goals wise this is a good pickup. Finding the right chemistry etc will be fun to watch |

Just read the Red Wings still have roughly $8 million in cap space after terminating Filip Zadina’s contract on Friday and moving Kubalik. That's pretty good assest management in my book. I'm assuming Yzerman is done dealing at this point. But he does have some flexibility at the trade deadline if needed. That doesn't hurt.
They get DeBrincat’s prime years at a team-friendly rate. Love the fact we got him on a 4 year deal. NHL.com has him listed at 5'8", 178 lbs. I'm assuming this is the most current stats on his size. He's the best sniper / pure goal scorer this team has probably had in 10+ years. I'll take this deal anytime. He's only 25 and he's no longer playing for a divisional rival. Not losing any top prospects in this deal is huge. Good work by Yzerman. |

He’s got a lot of haters on this board, but all I see is a kid who has produced his entire life. He was a 100+ point player in HS, all 3 OHL seasons were 100+ including his year with McDavid and Strome. As a 2nd round pick, he never played a single game in the minors. Busted 50 pts as a rookie, over 70 pts twice, over 60 pts once. He was an assistant captain in the NHL at 22. Yeah, his plus/minus is bad but it seems like every time someone points out someone with a good +/- what do we hear? It’s a worthless stat. He’s never played on a good team so who knows what his ceiling is.
I’m glad he was traded for. Sometimes you have to swing for the fences and I wouldn’t classify a 4 year deal as swinging for the fences. The Wings need a goal scorer and hopefully he’s it. If not, oh well, growth rarely comes from success, and almost always through pain and failure. |

they did it without giving up a prospect of note and added a great goal scorer.

He was supposed to go mid to late 20’s just on his upside alone. He’s got oodles of skill. For a conditional first, 4th, B grade level prospect and Kubalik this is absolute money.
Very excited to make some noise this year. LGRW |

Since Stevie Y only had to commit to 4 years instead of the original 7 to 8 years I am fine with this deal. It gets the Red Wings a good scorer and a player who wants to be a Red Wing! This gives the Red Wings a much better shot at making the playoffs next season. Go Red Wings Go! |

Just throwing this out there for people who don't see the prospects play on the farm in GR. I've seen Sebrango (defenseman) play in Grand Rapids for a while now. We're not losing a potential NHL player IMO. He's regressed if anything and had to play in Toledo of ECHL as well as Grand Rapids. We have other defense prospects ahead of him in the pipeline. |

There does seem to be a consensus that this was well done by Yzerman. Didn’t give up the farm at all. |

Now go trade for nylander or sign tarasenko and now we are talking. I believe we still need one more and then it’s playoffs or bust. |

I am really excited to see this kid coming in. This is a different dynamic. I feel like Yzerman got what he wanted out of this and did well for himself and the team |

I’m kicking myself, but my best source told me a few days ago he’d be “surprised” if this didn’t get finished up. I should have run with it just felt like there were so many variables. I will say this, I’ve heard of one other potential “get” for the team at this point. Sort of like this situation, the groundwork has been laid and the player is mulling it over. Beyond that, if we go into camp with what we have, this is a special piece to add. I’m a little sad just because I remember Ken Daniels saying that his son Jamie used to talk about Debrincat and how great the kid was. I wish those two (Ken and Jamie) could celebrate this together. I thing Debrincat even came over to the Daniels’ house and hung out a couple times. Jamie would have loved this |

I think Nylander is tougher. I don’t know if he’ll budge from the 10 million mark. Tarasenko, that is interesting. Nothing I’ve heard anything on but that would be cool. |

Haters? I think the consensus was nobody wanted to give up a ton of assets or a huge contract. He’s a solid 5v5 scorer and a great PP scorer. He should be a great addition for the team. |

per Bruce Garrioch, Debrincat passed up 8 year deals with Anaheim and Islanders to sign with Detroit. |

Yeah, his absolute ceiling is a bottom pair NHL D-man, if that. |

Vrana, Hronek, Zadina, now Kubalik. All gone. Beginning to think Yzerman isn’t real keen on Czech players. |
