Give 20-93-24 more than 10 games and the 5 on 5 numbers would improve.
- tomburton99

I’d like to see 13-93-24 but I get what you’re saying. I just think it’s time for the kids to take some of the reigns. How long we supposed to wait for this to happen?

Rick posted a tweet yesterday saying 10-16-13 worked well in their limited time together. I know from Money Puck and Hockey reference that 20-93-24 works. So they have options.

Has that been mentioned anywhere though? I feel like I haven't seen any reputable source say the NYR are considering this. Have they done it at all throughout his few years here?

If it doesn't happen, then I think we have to put him on the first line with 93 & 24. Can't have him on the third line with Trocheck & Wheeler. Kreider is better suited for that spot, and he can still eat time on the PP & PK. Kreider Tro Wheeler third line sounds like a solid, gritty line that can forecheck hard and pin teams in their zone.

It will be interesting to see how Lavy lines them up and what players he gives a chance to play together.
I am hoping he can stick with a couple lines through some growing pains in the early part of the season. Quinn and GG just ying yanged the younger guys around wayyy too much for them to get comfortable.

People will flip if god forbid Kreider is on the 3rd line, but I agree, I think it makes the Rangers lineup deeper doing that. He’ll make his killing on the PP like usual

I feel like most people I hear from think kreider makes sense on the third line, at least to give it a shot

I don’t know about “people”, but I’m sure Krieder won’t be thrilled with it. He has 4 years left on a NMC clause contract. It just might be a little early to be demoting him to the 3rd line, irrelevant if it makes some sense or not. Maybe Lavyy can convince him him, but it’s not a slam dunk.

Well, if it's carried out as a demotion, than no, of course Kreider wouldn't be pleased. But, with a little time hopefully the move would show to be more of an adjustment for the overall betterment of the team. I feel like the Kreider we've seen and heard over the last few years could get behind that. Provided we are all correct that his numbers wouldn't suffer.

I’m sure he is very much a team player. However, you’re demoting him in a sense to give a younger player who hasn’t proved he deserved a 1st line assignment. It’s a delicate balance. As I said, perhaps Lavy can hit the right cord with Krieder.

Then there is the matter of what happens after 10-20 games and Laf continues to struggle on the 1st line? You risk killing his confidence all together if Lavy needs to drop him down.

There’s an article on ESPN grading each team’s offseason

Overall grade: B-. There's nothing earth-shattering about what the Rangers have done. Wheeler was a low-risk addition who can anchor New York's fourth line.

These people do not watch hockey and I cannot be convinced otherwise

It was a no brainer. And don’t be surprised if he can still skate, that HE finds his way to top 6 minutes, more than people think.

It’s not really a demotion, it’s more of letting the kids take the next step. Kreider can agree to this I don’t think it’ll be a problem. Taking him off the PP, yea he’s probably he pissed
