Still have a lot of same D and G, but I fear this year they will be a bubble team.
- Nasty_Duck
I'm done predicting the Bruins fall.
When it happens, I'll be pleasently surprised instead of being wrong for 5 straight years again.

From the opener of last season to the current roster ...
6 new fwds, 3 new def, and 1 new goalie.
Not enough change! Too much change! Change the change!!
Edit: wait you meant the B's. Nothing happening here. ...... |

I think the team that makes the most sense to acquire Nylander is Seattle. |

It's always entertaining in here listening to fans from teams who did one of 3 things tell all Leafs fans what is wrong with Toronto and how screwed the Leafs are.
Those 3 things being:
1. Their team not even making the playoffs
2. Losing in the first round of the playoffs in the worst collapse in NHL history after a record setting regular season
3. Losing in the 1st round to the actual Toronto Maple Leafs
- Cush29
2 and 3 are not trolls, and I find their outsider perspective illuminating.
'nuff said.

When did I say the Leafs were screwed?
- Nasty_Duck
In the Leafs blog you infer and passive aggressively do it as we are seeing today with your comments about 40 goals being scored and getting your back up when a Leafs fan countered with a negative comment about your beloved Bruins.
Yet in the other blogs you yap about the Leafs negatively a lot & then come back here pretending you are just here to 'talk hockey' and don't troll.
You can deny it but I've read it many times.

Just for poops and giggles, I looked at your predictions for the past five years:
Last year: you didn't have the Bruins finishing top 3 in Atlantic
Two years ago: you didn't have the Bruins finishing top 3 in the Atlantic
Three years ago: you had the Bruins finishing 3rd in the COVID East Division - Washington, Philly, Boston, Buffalo
Four years ago: Didn't ask you to make a prediction, but you had Tampa winning everything, and Leafs finishing 2nd in division, so I'm you're probably saying Boston finishes 3rd or worse.
Five years ago: you didn't participate.

its gonna be Willy for Karlsson. Pair EK with Klingberg and revel in it - drexel
Makes sense why they aren't signing a goalie. Just go 6 on 5 all year.

I think the Leafs are still 90% at this point.
But if the 10% comes true then ....it's going to be a team that is good and needs some offense. And it's going to be a team that can absorb $7M and provide the Leafs with value on the blue line and/or top6 at a number that is no more than $7M.
I'm not sure Seattle has that - they aren't moving Beniers and I think Wright comes with too many risks for the Tree ( I think).
If I'm guessing I see the Isles or Canes or maybe the Flames as a good match if 88 is willing to sign there. Something built around Dobson, Pesce or Hanifin. They all have some movable pieces on good contracts. |

You'll notice I didn't review my own Boston predictions.

I really wish I could convince you otherwise but I don't think I'll ever be able to hate them as much as some actual Leafs fans so it's pointless to even try.

It's awesome you keep those prediction threads close, I enjoy doing them every year. - Scabeh
I started doing them about 20 years ago - I got tired of my brother's bluster every year about how every move the Leafs did was wrong (which was true, but still...).
So I share my season's tix with my brothers. We have a ticket draft every year. I made it a condition that he couldn't show up unless he (and everyone else) had filled it out.
And then the next year I would read out his predictions (and others).
After about 4 years, he refused to do it anymore. |

B's have clearly found the anti-aging elixir. Guys keep getting better with age.
I think the smart bet is that they win the division and Lucic and JVR each pot 50g. If they do end up having trouble scoring then Ullmark will obviously finish the year with a .987 save%.
The trick is to guess how they will avoid their "predictable" demise. |

What’s the biggest drop in points from season to season for a team in league history?
I imagine the Bruins are going to be up there next season. - Santo_44
Are we doing this again with the bruins?

Speaking for me, Of course I am going to compare the Leafs to the Lightning. They are my point of reference and Ek pulled the plug on the Lightning board.
Say what you want, I root for the Leafs. I follow the Leafs with my Lightning. My introduction to hockey in the 90's was the Leafs. I rooted for the Leafs/Blues before the Lightning existed.
My takes are sometimes ice cold, but no worse than some of the poop I read on HB.
Besides, I have to root for you guys now. Tampa is in decline and will be playing golf earlier and earlier from here on out until the inevitable rebuild. I want to watch hockey deep into the postseason, it's probably gonna be the Leafs. It's no fluke that TO beat Tampa. The torch has been passed. |
