Galchenyuk on waivers for contract termination. Signed on July 1st that has to be one juicy story for the yotes to do this so quickly. - burgh4life87
NEWS: Scottsdale Police Department has confirmed to The Athletic that Alex Galchenyuk was arrested on July 9 on a number of charges including private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, Threatening or Intimidating. Guess he celebrated that contract a bit too hard. |

Damn at 30 years old that’s probably curtains for him. I always thought he was going to come good and just never did. |

In my opinion Karlsson is not the kind of defenseman the Pens need. Yes, he was the best offensive-defenseman in the league in his prime and probably still is one of the best but I remember him not being particularly solid at his primary job of playing defense.
Basically he is like Letang but with Letang's strengths (offensive skills) and weaknesses (defensive lapses) amplified. He takes even more risks than Letang, makes more mistakes, and puts the defense and goalies in bad positions even more often. |

I would think he is poised for a move to Europe. I don't know what exactly went wrong with him, but it seemed like everything declined all at once. |

Eh. Still want him. It’s just such a jolt on offense. I’ll happily accept less defense when we have more defensive minded forwards. |

He’s also not going to get the same amount of playing time as in SJ where he was literally their only good dman. He’d most likely be on the 2nd pairing. But, now Malkin is getting either Letang OR Karlsson feeding him the puck on breakouts or using their skating abilities to move the puck into the offensive zone. Not to mention the PP should be a little better.

Also will be paired with either Graves or Petts who are both solid defensive defensemen. Hopefully he finds prime Dump / Letang chemistry with one of them. That’d be one of the best top 4 groups in the leagues if they’re able to click. |

Amazing how big of busts that top 3 was in the 2012 draft. 11 years later and 2 players will be out of the NHL and Im not even sure what team Murray plays on today. |

Wow, only 4 of the top 10 selected that year are regular NHL'ers at this point. Tough year. |

Way more excited to see who goes away in this deal or corresponding deals. The real magic is handling Carter, Granlund, and/or Petry.
If EK costs is $9.5 but we can unload 2 of those and extend Jake… I’ll be happy. |

Now that I reflect back on it, I’m pretty disappointed by Hillary duff’s lack of support for the team when comrie was on the team. - 10inchTerror
I was at a game when she was there haha. She sat in the Lemieux seating section where there is a lower box below and you can see the players come out of the locker room haha. |

If we get EK we have two top pairs. He will get plenty of ice time, I've said this multiple times but they would eat up 50-55 min regulation time haha. |

I just can’t see Letang and EK getting along at this point in their careers. |

Carters had a great career with Stanley cups and tons of quality hockey. They are old friends. Two number 1 D men cut from different clothes fighting for the sane ice time. Probably a different story. Please copy and paste some numbers now. |

Carter is washed man. His two way play is a disaster. Even if he still has a scoring touch in certain situations it doesn't exist at 5v5 and his lack of defense far outways anything he can offensively. |

So I had on The Fan going to pt today and a caller had a point that made me a bit curious... how would Letang and EK work on this team together? Both are pretty used to averaging 25 minutes a game. Which is great to have, but since they almost certainly won't pair up together... is our 3rd pairing going to average 10 minutes or less a game?
Not against an EK trade or being on the team (salary retained and blah blah blah considering), but which one of them is going to take less minutes? And Hell, who gets the #1 powerplay spot, or do they both? |

Ah, yes the third pair will barely play, or you could see Letang or EK playing with one of the third pair guys some times. I wouldn't even mind having the third pair be a complete penalty killing unit lol 🤣. And possibly both of them on the top PP although I liked Rakell in that left circle area, thought he did a good job there taking one timers. |
