Dumb moves to be sure. They just had to lock them up early and at a premium. - IonSabres
During last season.
“They have so much cap space to be able to make moves it’ll happen”
This off-season “who cares if they overpaid Girgensons and Okposo they had cap space to do it”
IDK because you could have gotten better players for less monies.
Also ideally you never overpay bad players regardless of cap space. Especially when you have an internal cap.
Chicago did it with Perry because they are tanking/rebuilding. This should be a playoff team. |

the relocation fee Terry would have to pay is much smaller than what a new arena would cost him
probably 4 to 6 teams that would open their vault for Terry to move the Sabres there - homiedclown
Even thinking Pegula would consider relocating the Sabres is idiotic. (1) The sabres were always his main interest growing up, (2) wouldn't it be awkward owning the BUFFALO bills, who are locked into Buffalo now for decades, and the Hamilton Sabres? (3) NFL rules DO NOT ALLOW a NFL owner to own another professional team in a separate city that also has an NHL team, so the KC's of the world are not an option.
Next discussion.....move on |

Yep, signing all 3 of Girgensons, Okposo and Jost is puzzling. Hopefully other roster moves will be coming that'll make things make sense??

Holy batpoop mother of hell, the playoff drought is mentioned so often and so much criticism goes on (some of which is very legit) it makes me throw up. Has it really been 12 years??? Oh my Lord!!! When did this happen? Why was I not told??? Oh, right, I see it on here every. stinking. day.
And what is the whole victim mentality getting you? You say you can't voice your opinion for fear of some massive repercussion, like the fuzz are coming for you, or even worse, you'll be cancelled by a bunch of crybabies faster than you can say Bud Light. Thinking we should have playoff success expectations is not whining, but carrying on like you're being persecuted sure is. Nobody is attacking anyone for mentioning the drought but ffs, stop repeating yourself like a goddamn broken record, buck up like a friggin man and remember nobody has to agree with your (poopty) takes. - LandlordTom
Sean McDermott recognized the significance of the moment. Over the summer, the first-year head coach discussed how he owned the drought, that he was a part of the legacy of Buffalo football. Now, it’s exploded.
“That’s why it’s such an emotional moment. I know it’s my first year as a head coach and we’re building, and that’s the exciting part.” McDermott, the ever-so-rational and level-headed leader of this team, realizes this is only one moment in the pursuit of something greater.

How do you think he will adjust to drinking milk from a bag? I heard Adams is having a presser on this issue shortly.

The Sabres should not have that same mindset. |

Trading a forward or two to open up spots. Oloffson and Middlestadt (though I'm no an advocate of trading 37). My values may be off as Im not a GM, but, something like:
Oloffson, Joker, Middlestadt, Rosen
for
Markstrom and an extended Hanifan
Sign Tatar as an UFA

2 non cap dump trades this month. But go on - DirtyDan
He didn't even have to make trades to improve the team, Adams locked himself into contracts he didn't need to at that time and pretty much watched FA go buy. |

I like the Tatar idea
Markstrom and Hanifan are two nice additions however in the package you would have to include a goalie of some kind and still have to move another one out |

Brought back a solid 4th line player. Brought back the captain of the team, cause both the player and team wanted him back. Brought in 2 solid (okay 1 solid) defensive d-men.
Jost the only guy I can point to and say okay an Accari would have been better suited. But then you have to commit to a 3 year contract.
To me it looks like management didn't want to commit to bottom lineup forwards.

Remember that article that was written that Kevin Adams was revolutionizing the sport of hockey……
Maybe he should revolutionize it by not overpaying bad players.
Also, I should walk in my boss today and just say I over paid our customer by just 1 million. No big deal everybody else does it |

Nosek would have been better, Hathaway would have been better. He didn't have to commit to 4th line players but Adams did in who he brought back. Your 4th line should be the last thing you worry about, not your 1st thing. |

Haven't we been told that 4th liners don't matter, and it's only for a season anyway so no big deal. Why are these signings even being discussed?
How can Accari be a better option if he is a 4th line player?
The GM that is revolutionizing the game signed 1 player with the intention of moving that player up the lineup in hopes of team improvement. |

I was super excited after the end of 21-22 when the team showed great promise in the last 6 weeks.
Then an offseason went by and adams didn't adequately address any of the holes on the roster.
22-23 the team exceeded expectations. Mired by an 8 game losing streak and a putrid stretch in March with the season on the line.
Now with the team ready to take a big step adams signs two 5/6 dman and resigned 3 replacement level players for the 4th line.
Still have a big hole on the wing in the middle 6, complicated further by Quinns injury. Goaltending is a massive question mark and they are still missing a #4 dman.
No intention of doing what it takes to vault this team into the upper echelon of the eastern conference. Instead banking on a rookie goalie and praying upl turns into something he hasn't been since his draft year. Betting on no regression from any of the players who had career years and hoping any hole and injury opportunity is filled by more rookie success.
Boston should regress, Tampa did regress, Toronto cant figure out the puzzle in the postseason, Florida is a coinflip. Detroit and Ottawa have gotten better, albeit marginally.
12 years of no playoffs core is mostly locked up, key roster players on rookie contracts and adams just continues to sit on his hands. In no way should this year be about development or good feelings. It should be playoffs or bust
