Everyone still using my phrases after all these years. Often imitated, never duplicated, greatest of all time poster. It's good to be the king around here.
I will throw some Rose Petals on the ground when I see Clifton and Johnson be able to do what they where brought in for. They are still a ? Mark, will see how it plays out. Still give Adams a C- so far for the off-season. Still a lot of questions. - Buff36
I agree with a c or c-. Hopefully KA gets it to a B with a hockey trade. I'm not expecting the offseason to end up an A, but, one can dream
Zach Benson at 13 was a pipe dream and I like Clifton more than most.

Yeah I forgot about Benson, but, I don't give KA too much credit for that as he fell into his lap. KA also was trying desperately to trade back into the 1st for Wahlberg, who ended up available early 2nd, which I found strange. Clifton is more important for not what he is (a decent 4/5 dman who's very good at PK) but what he prevents (Having to play Bryson, Joker as a 4, Stillman and Boosh).
I'm an eternal optimist, but i still think the offseason is no better than a C at this point. Get a bonafide 1A/1B goalie (Hellebuyk, Hart, Markstrom or Gibson) and I move it to the B range. Get a bonafide goalie, sign a Tatar, Kane, Tarasenko type and trade for a true 4b D (Hanifin/Tanev) while shedding joker, Oloffson, UPL, maybe Boosh and it moves into the A range

One can dream about all of that but I think he does have to make a trade. He has 9 dmen on the NHL Roster, along with 3 goalies and 12 forwards It doesn't make sense as currently constructed.
12 forwards could change to 14 by signing a Tatar type and promoting a prospect; either Rousek or Savoie. 14 is good for the active roster. when Quinn comes back, you have a good problem (though chances are another player will be hurt by then)
3 goalies is 1 too many. A UPL trade for a more reliable goalie and sending Comrie to Rochester makes way too much sense not to happen. I worry about KA's irrational love of UPL, though.
9 Defensemen is 2 too many. Sending Bryson to Rochester gets it to 8, but still have 1 too many.
What I would do: Blockbuster Trade for Markstrom, Hanifin and Backlund from CGY for Oloffson, UPL, Joker, Boosh, Savoie, a 2024 1st and a 2025 2nd with CGY retaining $5 million. It's giving up a lot, but we're getting a lot. I would also sign Tatar as a UFA. Money would be tight but doable. Lineup (I would argue it's a deep playoff roster):
skinner-tage-tuch
Mittlestadt-cozens-Tatar
Peterka-Backlund-Krebs
Okposo-Girgensons-Greenway (I may switch Greenway and Krebs??)
Reserves: Rousek-Jost

That's a hell of a trade. Especially when he is having
trouble trading Olofsson. - Buff36
Yep - what I want and what he can/will do are definitely different. A big trade is definitely out there, if he wants it. He could do something similar with a few teams:
PHI: Hart/Konecny/Sanheim if Briere retains some $$ on Sanheim
ANA: Gibson for UPL ++
WPG: Hellebuyck, Schmidt, Connor(would cost a lot and Peg would have to retain a lot $$)

Patience. The jets and ducks don’t want disgruntle players on their roster. Think the Eichel situation.
As time goes on this summer …… their value goes down.
Problem is ….. how many teams realistically can take on Gibson or henneybucks cap hit comfortably?
The answer is not many. So the goalie market isn’t great for sellers
Adams will swoop in and make a move soon. Mid August is my guess
