most scientific discoveries were when people went against what the consensus was - drexel
Well, not necessarily....plus this isnt the 1700's where you had communities of foolish religious simpletons who were so ignorant and short sighted that they believed in any nonsense that was spewed at them
Oh wait..

We have such a loser fanbase turning on ROR for not wanting to play in the fish bowl that is Toronto. Why would players want to sign here if they know they will just turn on them when they do something that they disagree with?
Let him (frank)ing be and appreciate the guys like Domi who truly want to sign and play here for a fair price. |

Agreed, it would be foolish to trade a 40 goal point per game player AND a young defenseman on a budget deal for a soon to be 30 year old when his new overpriced contract kicks in. - Glak18
When has TK ever scored 40? I agree it makes no sense for the Flyers, but you're just making poop up |

Special Florida knowledge!
Do they still have those boiled peanuts down there? And all the pancakes houses? Man I like pancakes houses. - Zezel
Yes and yes. Lots of burled peenuts and pancake houses. With the lack of dental care, mushy foods are big down here. I was thinking of making a restaurant that caters to the toothless and call it "Gummie's Mush Shack".

Very rarely actually. The idea of the paradigm-shifting contrarian iconoclast as the driver of scientific progress is a romantic one and there are some examples of it, but it's not the norm. It's always an excellent bet to go with the thing that most scientists agree on. I know I prefer my medical insights coming from the medical academy, rather than Russel Brand. |

There was a fabulous BBC series made in the late 1970s called Connections with James Burke.
It showed the history of the advancement of science and inventions, and how random events in different places contributed to said advancement.
You can now watch it on Youtube.
Still a good watch.

Treliving must be on Summer holidays. Pretty quiet throughout the league. Probably an agreement to wait until August by most. So instead of hockey talk, we get Pandemic jab talk.....boring! I guess having a dementia patient pretending to be the leader of the free world is somewhat exciting. It's like letting your 6 year old play with your revolver in the playground. What could possibly go wrong? |

I imagine that right now he has probably spoken with a few GMs to see what the cost of unloading Murray is going to be. Clearly they aren't coming to terms with Samsonov on a price point they can mutually agree upon or they would have done that.
My guess is that they are hoping that arbitration goes really well for them and Samsonov is awarded less than $2.4m and they can just buy out Murray.
The second best option is probably trading Murray with a pick or prospect if Sammy comes in between $2.4m - $3m. That could be the best option, all things considered.
If it goes really poorly (over $3m), they are going to need to trade Murray along with someone else to keep Samsonov.
If I was Samsonov right now, I'd be looking at $4m to $4.5m for 2-3 years and $5m for more term.

At first glance, I thought your numbers looked a little high.
So I went to the stats.
Last year, for goalies who played 10 or more games, Samsonov was tied for 8th in the league for SV% and 7th in GAA.
Damn, he's gonna be looking for $$$$$$$$.

Plus also remember the Leafs D and coaching sucks so it's even more impressive.
Also Sammy sucks so I'm not sure how it all happened. The core doesn't play any defense either. It's a mystery really. |

It's particularly jarring after the previous guy in office was in the best shape physically and mentally of anyone ever.
