No idea how the Islanders were able to draft Sorokin.

Honestly shocking he didn't take Duchene over Tavares and Hedman
I remember there was some chatter about that in the last few days leading up to that draft. May have just been some intentional misdirection to keep people on their toes, but funny nonetheless |

I wonder if he'll cross paths with Griffen Reinhardt.

That's actually the DEL team that Reinhart played for in the 2020-21 season
Reinhart is now playing in the English league. How do you draft a guy who can't even stick around in 3rd tier international leagues at 4th overall? |

Two players that cannot skate at the top of the draft. Skating optional for Islander scouts.

Ha-ha! Incredible the amount of Islander draft picks that are skating challenged. I blame Jimmy D. He must have not left notes behind regarding the importance of skating in evaluating talent.
When Jimmy left, the Islanders drafted slower less skilled players. We saw the players the Wings drafted with Jimmy. One of my favorite Jimmy Islander picks was Bob Bourne. Bob could skate like the wind and take the puck end to end. |

You wouldn’t think so if you had a beer over there. |

Thats disappointing. Guess I'll find out next month. Going over to visit my Daughter and Son in Law who is deployed in the Air Force. Do you think they have Buffalo Trace? |

Who knows it may be easier to find it over there.

So Toronto is deep in the cap. Since it is so quite in here I am proposing the following trade..
Isles get Nylander
Leafs get Islanders 2024 2nd, 2025 1st and 3rd.
The Islanders than trade JGP for a 2024 2nd and 3rd. If a 2nd and 3rd too much I will take a 2nd.

And then Nylander, having spent a season with the Isles, decides he likes New York, so he signs as a UFA.........with the Rangers. |

Nothing here that we don't already know and haven't expressed on this board. Just nice to see the team mentioned. - JohnScammo
I thought it was fair John. I wish Lou gave more interviews and more attention. Islanders are already in the background, and it makes it tough being so close to the vest and you play in the same town as the Rangers. |

That still doesn't even clear enough cap space to fit Nylander's current contract. They'd have to clear another $2M just to fit one year of Nylander and then even more if they were going to extend him, which is something they'd have to do to even come close to justifying moving more future assets.
Also I don't think Toronto even considers that package for a minute, even if Nylander is heading to UFA after this season. |

Yeah I don't think there is a deal to be made with the Islanders, for a multitude of reasons |
