Wayne Gretzky compiled a record of 193 wins and 186 losses in his coaching career with the Phoenix Coyotes
I do not know. I think the jury is still out on that one. - Nfdbulldawg
Many great players just do not make great coaches. |

It appears Lou does too. We hashed this out a couple months back. Hopefully it all works out and he lights it up with Bo. |

I think so too. It will free him up to create.
Now after Gretzky’s Barzal love his contract will be loved by the ones who killed it in typical Internet fashion |

What’s your feelings on Barzal’s contract now that Gretzky has said he likes it? I don’t know about you but now I think it’s dreamy. |

Going to need to wait and see what Jon Sim thinks. That's the only retired player's opinion that truly matters. |

No idea how anyone cannot have a problem with most of these contracts. Lou himself hated the Bo contract. |

Not sure if anyone on here hated Barzal’s contract I think it was more they didn’t love it. I don’t and I could give a (frank) what gretzkys opinion is.
I think it should’ve been a million less but I’m not losing my mind about it. Most of the contracts on this team are 750,000 to 1 million more then they should be imo. Either that or the player is signed for a ridiculous term. It adds up. When this team finally faces the reality it’s time to rebuild, if they ever do, it’s going to be a long, painful, process. |

NHL has a huge problem with many of these contracts. I did not have an issue with Barzal's contracts. I have an issue with giving griding type players who cannot generate offense 7 years. I was not happy with the Mayfield, Varly, and Pierre contacts either. To me, 7- or 8-year contracts should be reserved for special type players. It's not just the Islanders. The Caps just gave Wilson 7 years. What type of sense does that make? |

Wow wonder who wrote this on the last thread
Guess they just didn’t love Barzal’s contract
Is Barzal worth 9.15 as a winger that broke 80 points exactly one time along with 20 goals once. Think about that when you think it’s possible that lameriello may have passed on giving up a first for a 25 yr old winger that s surpassed 40 goals twice after giving up one for Romanov, JGP, and Horvat. Then try to explain that to yourself that this all somehow makes sense.
(frank)ing absurd bullsh!t no matter how much of a homer anyone could possibly be. If you(not you anyone)try to theorize this and actually think about the last few years, contracts, trades, etc it becomes laughable. Barzal being a winger after signing that contract makes it even more absurd. If possible. We have a 60 point winger who is a defensive liability more often then not locked up for the next 8 years. Thank god we didn’t give up a first for Debrincat. Phew. Finally we decide to do the “right” thing at the completely wrong time. Hysterical. |

Me saying it was stupid not to give up a first for Debrincat (as was reported at the time) means I hate Barzal’s contract. Of course it does. I don’t love it. Said it from day one. Still say it today. Gretzky saying he likes it doesn’t change that. The only thing that changes that is if Barzal starts putting up 85 points consistently. If he doesn’t it’s not a contract anyone should be enamored with.
Anyone besides a Lou homer of course who has the intellect of a child. Which is exactly what I said in that post. That same child ragged on Barzal every game until…. You guessed it! Lou signed him then he was just great and wonderful! Ironic that the manic man child searched for that post for probably hours and it had nothing to do with Barzal’s contract and everything to do with the reported rumor of Lou not being willing to give up a first for Debrincat. Then the chromosome deficient child reposts it. Ironic. Jesus |

It doesn't. Unless Snow, Milbury or Chiarelli are secretly the Leafs GM. |
