Few things from a recent article with EK in Sweden. He's spoken with Pittsburgh, Carolina, Toronto, Seattle, and a "few others" as well. He said he doens't have a top priority. Just wants to go to a good team and try to win. Mentioned speaking with Dubas and his close friendship with Spezza.

Also said he won't be going back to SJ.

I don’t see why granlund is so hard to move, he still put up 40 points last year. A bottom feeder could put him on their top 2 lines and he would prob play decently. Acquire him from pittsburgh for a 7th and could prob flip him at the deadline for maybe a 3rd or 4th. Still a net improvement.

I'm not even sure Dubas wants to move him. He's also a year removed from a 60 point season. Maybe they see him as a key part of their third line.

Granlund was garbage for us and I'd love to move on, but it's not impossible at all that he bounces back. A year ago, consensus was we should pay to get rid of Zucker and Pettersson, and look how those turned out.

He' been on a steady decline since 2020 in all areas of his game. He isn't bouncing back.

If Hayes can be moved then I think Granlund can be moved.

However, TDA got bought out so what do I know. /shrug

He is def declining with age, but so was the Nashville team he played on, as well as that absolute garbage 3rd line he played on for us last year. If granlund is on opening night roster he should be a heck of a lot better than he did just due to the fact our bottom 6 is better.

Also, although not my ideal 3C, the fact ellars has been pencilled it means carter at worst case is 3RW, possibly 4C, if we’re really lucky 4RW and if miracles are real either in the press box or on another team. But not 3C is a good start.

Saw today that Karlsson he’s talked to Dubas along with the Canes and Leafs. Says he doesn’t have a preferred destination but has told SJ he wants to be moved to a playoff team asap.

If he’s not intentionally forcing his way specifically to us I don’t see it happening. But the Canes and Leafs have actual valuable players they can move to clear cap. Their packages are just going to be better.

Almost feel like the smart thing to do would be to concede Karlsson and help the Leafs clear cap for him by trading for Nylander.

There is so much not to like. The last 3 seasons saw him mostly play with Forsberg and Duchene as his linemate and with Josi/Ekholm as the top pairing. He should have been better playing with those guys.

He's been playing top 6 and yet since the 20/21 season his 5v5 goal production is the same as Zach Aston Reese. He is soft on the forecheck and a passive defender. I really hope they can dump him. I can't stand him lol.

With their cap situation, if they keep Granlund they need to move out about $3M in salary elsewhere. Most likely that's trading Petry and replacing him with a $3M RD, but that probably makes the D worse ... unless Dubas has a Scuderi for Daley move up his sleeve.

Three team trade where we send Granlund and the assets we can muster to SJ, we get Nylander, and Leafs get Karlsson. Leafs probably throw in a B level asset to SJ too.

I don’t like him either. He was still a 40 point player last year though. Zar has never came close to half that his best year even though their goal totals are similar. Granlund only scored 1 more goal the year before but put up just over 60 points.

I’m just surprised someone like Arizona doesn’t trade him for a 7th or even future considerations. 2nd line left wing and pp2 time they should be able to flip him for something, even if it’s the following year when he’s about to expire his contract. Future considerations to a 4th isn’t much but it’s something from nothing.

I’m thinking of no trade they gotta buy him out in august to get comfortably under the cap

Granlund getting 53 assists while his linemates racked up career goal scoring totals was wild. He's a creative and talented passer, but a lot of that production was based of Forsberg and Duchen. I still think that someone out there would be willing to take him.

I have proposed him for Garland on CF, given Vancouver could use another center and have a bunch of wings.

Yea I would be down for that. I'm just not seeing how EK actually wants to go to the Canes though, because that deal would have happened. And idk how much EK enjoyed his time with the Canadian media in Ottawa. So not sure if those two teams are a real option or not...

Counter point: if EK wasn’t ok with going to the Canes the Canes would be out of it by now and not still negotiating.

If Vancouver is willing to do Garland for Granlund you take it and run no question about it. That’s why I doubt they’d do it.

Finally found a place that had four roses small batch.

I could obviously look it up but might find a simpler answer here, what’s with the ‘small bath’? Is it just easier to do different stuff with (barrel age, flavor, etc)? Or is it literally they didn’t make a lot of this type? Or both

Whenever you buy whiskey that isn't "single barrel" then it's made by blending the whiskey from many different barrels to get a consistent flavor for the release. A "small batch" release blends a small number of barrels, which typically means they can be more selective in which barrels to use.

Single barrel whiskey will have a wildly varying taste barrel to barrel, even if they were distilled from the same mash and aged in the same warehouse.

I think Eller said in his presser that he's been told he's the de facto 3c.....or he'll be given the first shot at the role. Something like that. They were talking about it on the radio last week.

Eller will be fine. Last season he had a revolving door of linemates on a struggling injury riddled team. Not going to wow you but can definitely be a solid center to a competent 3rd line.

We don’t have a 3C anyways so no worse for wear. Nylander is not a 3C if that’s what you’re thinking.
