They 100% wont do this. The Shane Wright thing isnt an actual plan, it's mismanagement.
Having him play an inconsistent 9 game trial where they have to shelter him does nothing for his development.
Everyone hates the CHL, but its still the best development league in the world and its not close. He'll go back, tear it up with benson, and then I guess join rochester, although its likely his team is pretty good this year in the W.
I also think part of the reason they wont send Comrie down is they dont know what to expect from Luukkonen. If it goes sideways, youll want the other goalie here. - Michael Ghofrani
Your Savoie analysis is sound. I'm still convinced they send Comrie down (can't imagine them trading him), KA believes in UPL more than anybody else in the world. If he didn't, you would have thought he would have traded for someone by now. We'll see....
they could dump him to someone for future consideration if they wanted, and he was hanging out at the gm's house watching playoffs - homiedclown
Well the air quality has been a little rough...
Theyre not going to give him away, obviously. I dont know what the story on him hanging out at his house is. I also dont particularly care. At least one dept in the upper management group thinks theyre better off upgrading there. I doubt they are the only one with concerns.
I would replace "couldn't" with "aren't willing to"
Of course they can do something about it but they're not willing to pay market price. Indecision is a decision - Hank Balling
I dont know tbh, this comes down to the particulars of each deal/non deal. Im of the opinion they should overpay for goaltending, even short term, but there are obviously degrees to that.
Like I wouldnt give Korpisalo the deal he got from Ottawa, for instance. Thats neither the contract nor the goalie to pursue.
I still don’t see anything that suggests this isn’t a playoff team this year.
I think between Florida’s injuries, coupled with Toronto/Boston/Tampa losing boatloads of talent the Sabres are right there with the thick of the Atlantic.

Wonder if there's some calculated risk at the end of camp. How do the 3 play? Is anyone dealing with a G injury who might claim him?
There's some benefit to having him clear, even if you need him early in the season.
I'm with Michael though, I think keeping 3 is likely and they wanted to make a move, but couldn't get it done.

The three headed goalie monster would elicit an enormous groan from me. It shows a total lack of belief and conviction in their situation. If they believe UPL is the guy, then have the stones to say he's the guy, and if he's not then they should do something.

They didnt do anything to raise their floor imo.
Their ceiling is just as high as several atlantic division teams. But thats just another way of saying, as long as much of stuff goes exactly right, it should work out.
We joke about the leafs a lot, but they can probably qualify even if they sustain a long term injury or two.
We've already got Olofsson penciled in the top six with Quinn out at game 1. It could still break their way, but it's not quite the investment fans hoped for.

aim higher then getting the 7th or 8th seed
you have tage, tuch, skinner, cozens, dahlin and power
with a core of those 6, which is literally 1/3 of the skaters on the ice, aim higher

Just bush league imo - Hank Balling
The time to do that wouldve been during the run. They signed a kid out of college and gave him all the starts over UPL. This generally isnt what you do if you believe he's "the guy"
I think they think he might have "the guy" upside, but at this point they are at best skeptical.

They struggle managing the bottom of the roster, no question there.

I think they ironically struggle with prospect evaluation. They cant make up their mind. Or Adams can't. Not sure, but a lot of this can be tracked back to just not being sure what to do with guys who aren't locks.
