1) Theyve also got to handle Zegras' new deal. And Im guessing theyll want to make sure Terry's number comes in low enough to be able to negotiate a friendlier deal with Zegras.

2) That team bleeds money and its only gotten worse post pandemic I think. If Terry for instance wants a deal with a heavier bonus structure, that could be a hold up as that org doesn't typically structure contracts that way.

Troy Terry is one of the top 5v5 forwards in the league while doing it on a team actively tanking the last two seasons.

In 145 games the past two seasons he has 128 points good for (0.882 PPG). Only 27 of those points came on the power play.

That’s 73 points a season on a team that doesn’t score a whole lot with most of the damage coming at even strength, while being very good defensively.
