Tony had a great season for them but was arguably the worst player on that team in the Rangers 7 game loss
Brind'amour will need to do a better job of sheltering his minutes in big spots

Say Ek is right and Rangers are talking Laf with Montreal… would Slafkovsky straight up get it done for you? Personally don’t love it and think they would have to add a significant piece. Just trying to get some hockey talk going here… |

MTL would never offer that
They’ve given him top six minutes and tried him on every line imaginable. Have you ever watched him play? He’s just not that good. He’s basically something in between Josh Bailey and maybe a guy like Louie Ericksson later in his career. You barely notice him when he’s on the ice. - BringNYIhome

I know he only played half the season, but pretty pedestrian numbers for a #1 OA. If they want Laf that bad, would be a pretty wild outcome. I admittedly have never known less about a 1st overall pick than I do about Slafkovsky. |

Just to be a bit of a devils advocate, what exactly had LAF done to be valued so much more than Slaf? LAF was quite pedestrian too on a significantly better team when he was drafted.
Slaf, 0.25 ppg
LAF, 0.375 ppg (0.42 ppg for his career thus far, which for a 1st overall pick is a let down)
Right now, as I see it… lets say the Rangers trade for Slaf, 1 for 1. As a result heres the dominos…
The Rangers have no obligation to call him up and can start him in the AHL. Thus freeing up 2.5m in salary, potentially enough money to bring back Tarasenko.
Slaf can join Othmann, Sykora and all the other potentials in AHL and grow with them. |
