This makes no sense, Why would the leaf's even want Pageau at his age with that contract? Especially in giving up your best trade asset in Nylander oh and throw in a second while your at it....Add this to the never happening trade list. This would be the worst trade of the decade.
If the Isles really wanted Nylander Dobson has to be part of the deal or at least a package of two firsts the Leafs can flip for the D-man they want.

But that's the funny thing. He's said this repeatedly despite numerous readers pointing out the absurdity. The options are clear.

1) Trade Nylander for cap relief (ie draft picks).
2) Trade Nylander to address an actual team need (ie upgrade on defense). Then get cap relief by buying out Murray, Brodie, etc...
3) Keep Nylander. Make a run for the Cup. Sign him next summer. Or let him walk and sign other players - like say the Bertuzzi experiment goes very well. Or Klingberg. Or Domi. Or another UFA.

But to trade Nylander for replacement level garbage like Pageau ($5M x 3 more years) and Wahlstrom is something that nobody has ever discussed.
