I wonder how the rest of the world is able to cope with vacation, if the Quebec solution was so great, why is the rest of north America not adopting this "Construction vacation" period? Quebec construction unions have a lot of power, that's the answer.

It's pratical because it's a holiday that nobody here celebrates so every is off and it's a 1st of the month so works well with leases. But it's not illegal to move a week before. Once again it's just practical

Probably saved alot of money that way! Not moving and not getting divorced are probably the two best financial decisions one can make

I would add : roll your godam cars 10 years +, after like year 6 : insurance only one way

Ours takes money and when we need them they shrug their shoulders and say "it is what it is. not much can be done." Then they pay for a ski weekend for our union reps and then ask teachers to go to Quebec City on our own dime to protest
