I know what you mean by this but it’s honestly a super funny thing to say about maybe the greatest American born player and a shoe in HOF’er - sbroads24
I knew I shouldve qualified the statement, but I couldn't help myself. |

The story line is undeniable, but I think people, even those who believe hes still great offensively, wildly overestimate the value it would add here.
He's bottom 1% defensively, how much offense would he need to provide directly/indirectly for him to offset that?
It was a huge problem for the team last year. Team defense, specifically help on D from forwards.
How does adding Kane help that? - Michael Ghofrani
I agree it was a huge problem, Adams added 2 defensemen and ran the rest of the roster back, how does that address that huge problem? Does the team think its a problem?
In these comment boards, many have pointed to the individual defensive analytics of Girgs and Okposo as justification for their spots on the roster, while those stats have minimal impact on the team as they finished 26th in GA.
The team has elite forwards who publicly stated they played tight when the pressure was turned up, who in the history of the game of hockey would be better suited to help the youth learn how to excel under pressure?
I'm not going to die on the hill of bringing him in, but their is more upside then down with the right contract.

I think even suggesting that the nerds are the absolute trump case in all decisions is setting the wrong expectations for the that group of employees.
Hopefully they are not of that mindset and understand it is a piece of the puzzle... not the only factors to be considered. - IonSabres

Well for starters the team gets caved in defensively when the middle six was on, not when girgensons and okposo are on (granted their offensive zone play makes me want to vomit but here we are).
They haven't fully addressed it, no arguments there, especially leaving the goaltending untouched.
I guess my contention is I dont expect the contract to be favourable but Im not basing that on anything other than what floats around on twitter.
Its definitely a different risk/reward profile if hes taking a pay cut on a pro rated 1 year deal vs a multi year deal with all kinds of trade protection. |

Kane doesn't make the already defensively weak middle 6 worse, it does make them better offensively. There are intangibles he can teach as well, he has turned his life around form 2015 and on, I would rather watch Kane in his late 30's than watch Olo, Greenway, Krebs and yes even Mitts. |

if you're getting 2022-2023 Kane, the Sabres would be making themselves better, and possibly hardly better by swapping him and Olo.
I don't know what kind of impact that surgery will have, but I would be stunned if he outperformed 2nd half Casey Mittelstadt.
He did nothing for the Rangers and he did nothing for the Hawks last year. |

He is incredibly weak defensively. He's always been pretty bad but the offense blew the need for defense out of the water. That's no longer the case. |

That's right cause the things I complain about haven't been the same for years. He could have done better and decided to go with hope that one of the 7 Bottom pair D on the roster can step up. |

Mitts has never put together a full nhl season, so to assume he will because he played well the last half of last season is high risk. He did the exact same thing the season before.
Kane had 45 points in 54 games with Chicago.
He had 12 in 19 in the regular season and 6 points in 7 games with NYR. His offense is still there, and he is expected to be healthier next season.

Not really, still a lot of ? marks. Adams had the assets to do better. Sabres are still on the outside looking in at this point. Let's see if all this HOPE turns into success. |
