joe pavelski is still pretty good - TheSabresTaco
But like, he missed some games and like, his first year there and like, he only almost single-handedly won them a playoff series last year and like bro, that first year in Dallas man. |

troy terry
team 4.5
player 8
projected 1 year 5.4M
average 1 year 6.25M
projected 4 year contract (if they avoid arb) is 6.2M - TheSabresTaco
I've said it once, so I'll say it again, Troy Terry is a beast and massively underrated. If he doesn't want to stay a Duck, we should be alllllll over that. |

His leadership and what he’s done for the team post Eichel in the lockeroom has been tremendous.
That was a huge hole and a huge ask - Sabretooth9
Was Eichel such a leader that his absence really left much of a hole? I think the more reasonable, more likely explanation would be that Eichel was addition by subtraction. Then you've got a guy like Tuch WOOOing it up to boost that bit of addition from subtraction.
Okposo had been here the whole time. If he was an actual leader I don't think you see as much of a negative impact from Eichel while here. |

instrumental in those
7-3 loss to preds
7-1 loss to bruins
7-0 loss to bruins
10-4 loss to stars
and 6-2 loss to devils when we were trying to make the playoffs
or are we only allowed to talk about the "good"
he was also a stud in the post season during his tenure as a sabre

Ignored the first year of his deal?
Ignored that he also missed 20+ games his 2nd season?
Good production from the press box during those 20+ games, eh?
I'd ask you to stop talking, but why bother when this is what, alternate account 7 or 8 that you're using due to your buffoonery? - kingcong39
pavelski has 240 points in 287 games since he turned 35
about the same production as vanek had in his prime for the sabres 497 points in 598 games |

Also possible leadership is getting way too much attention.

it's easier for a gm to blame a failing sports franchise on lack of leadership then lack of talent
esp when said gm is responsible for the talent

He’s a 4th line grinder lol. Jesus. What are you expecting??
The Sabres identified that 3 seasons ago and put him there since.
So Kane with a broken hip and won’t play till Christmas or Okposo who the players, gm, and coaches all rave about his leadership and how he’s a good dude
Not a hard decision

Nice that the kids can just play hockey, not worry about captain requirements and answering questions after a tough loss.
Underappreciated leadership helps grow the kids |

There is an average total of 4 years between youngest and oldest roster in the NHL, the Sabres are 2 years younger than the average of 27. When does this kids excuse end?

Probably when guys like power , quinn, peterka, levi and krebs get a bit older.
The "core" talent is the young part of the franchise.
You can average ej, okposo and girgensons in, but the guys that count are still very young.
Dahlin
Tage
Tuch
Quinn
Peterka
Cozens
All very young core guys. Not the scrubs. |

Tage 25
Casey 24
Cozens 22
Quinn 21
JJ 21
Dahlin and Samuel 23
Power 20
Pretty young core.
13 guys 25 and younger. 7 over 25.

he was playing almost 15 minutes a night
the narrative that he was a 4th line grinder only applies if the hockey game is 90 minutes long instead of 60 minutes
quinn and peterka had less ice time last year per game

Where are these guys on their aging curve? No real answer, but 22 isn't as early as you might think.

devils got 112 points with a roster that was literally just as old
maybe Lindy should not have been canned

The roster will have only 2 rookies on it, 1 when Quinn gets back from injury. The chemistry should be there since they are running it back, if they lose though, it will be blamed on youth.

You know what I'm saying though, the best players and future leaders are still young
Dahlin
Cozens
Tuch - He's gonna get the next letter IMO, partially because of his age.
Our young locked up long term guys are the core.
Samuelsson, coznes, tage , soon to be dahlin
Who cares about the old guys, 1 year deals
Ej, okposo, girgensons and jost. Very replaceable |

I really think goaltending is the #1 uncertainty.
I trust levi , as does management.
Maybe the 4th line helps manage some defensive situations, giving levi some extra relief |

Love how Kane has a “broken hip” but Okposo’s broken head doesn’t get mentioned at all, on top of that I sh¡t faster than Okposo skates and modern hip surgery is somehow like jumping on a grenade.
What nonsense. |
