everyone said last summer he has to make impact moves this summer
don't worry about biship, next year is our year
don't worry about missing the playoffs this year, next year is our year
congrats, 70 million prospects and we get erik johnson and conner clifton for our year
and eric comrie and 6 k to start 40 plus games in net - homiedclown

you used the example of signing 2 AHL goalies like it's some detriment to the NHL team.
I see the same team you do, I just view their process and don't see the asteroid heading towards the F'n Center. - TheSabresTaco
when we had hasek
or lafontaine and mogilny
the mindset was to try to win a cup
why is it different when you have tage, tuch, skinner, dahlin, cozens and power
I mean those 6 players are as talented as any sabres roster for the top 6 guys in the team's history
and we are still slow playing it when 3 or 4 regular playoff teams are on the decline
I mean if we lost game 7 in the last 2 postseasons, maybe
hecht scored that goal to win the series over the ranges, a long time ago |

I don't like the goalie situation, I'm luke warm with the defense and I don't like entering training camp with questions at forward.
The goalie situation bothers me the most. |

figured someone would chime in with that.
yeah, i can see the argument. All 3 of them really deserves the quotes tbh. - TheSabresTaco
Hank got me thinking about it yesterday with the idea that assistant coaches will be the first to go if things go wrong this year. Mike Bales hasn't given us a reason to think he's good, but I'm not sure he's had much to work with.
Irritates me that they haven't attempted to upgrade their staff and let Peca + Weber walk. Keep some sacrificial lambs around, I guess.

fortunately most of this team is on averge 6-7 years younger than that one.
i agree that more should have been done. I think kevyn should be using a few assets to make this team stronger this year and beyond.
tough to do with a forward because of how many we have in the org. but a brett pesce move is quite easy to project, especially as a rental.
Johnson presses for the third pair this and next year, but there's no one else here that will be pressing for middle pair for a long time.
Dahlin-Sam
Power-Pesce
R. Johnson-Clifton
Larry
That's a sick defense. |

yeah i mean i hear that but so did detroit and ottawa and they couldn't beat out the youngest team in hockey
bruins lost a ton. leafs got significantly worse in their own end. tampa keeps losing role players. florida beat us by a (frank)ing point. montreal is crappy.

I am talking about the organizational message, not hockeybuzz. Come on.
Last summer, the Sabres didn't want to make real moves.
This summer, they did want to.
It's fair to argue if they did enough. I don't think they did, but apparently they do. - TheSabresTaco
Yup, different feel, similar results.

I’m just tired of the excuses. No Playoffs last year was inexcusable
No playoffs this year is worthy of Adams losing his job
The Seattle Kraken are a playoff team already just by simply selecting a team of average to slightly above average players and making a few nice trades
Adams *literally walked into a team* with Dahlin, Tage, Cozens, Mitts, Skinner and can’t figure out goaltending and D depth.
The fact people say he’s been a really good GM so far blows my mind and those people have lost the plot |

I guess we'll see.
The message was different, I think the vibe is a little different but more or less the same. I don't really disagree. Especially with the faith they're putting in 2 unproven goalies.

there shouldn't be any excuses. he came out and stated he wants to win. they think they can, some here think they can't.
theyre entrusting 2 unproven goalies and a moderately improved (and developing) defensive core. their hope is that the team improves in their defensive/backchecking abilities.
there's a lot of hopes and prayers but it doesn't feel confident, and that bothers me. |

why are you the way that you are - TheSabresTaco
Taco, I have steadfastly supported Adams over the past 3 seasons. Yet, at this point his actions do not align with his statements...
I want to win....yet, he has done nothing to properly address the two biggest holes in his roster of 1A Goalie and 4D. His 2 Dmen acquisitions seem to be triping over each other and Boosh for 3RhD.
We don't want to block our young players...yet bringing in the 3 Larry's does in fact do exactly that, maybe not all three, but certainly 2 of the 3.
This should be the season to get into the playoffs and bri g along another 2 young players like they did with Quinn and Peterka last season. Maybe it happens, but boy it isn't very clear what the intensions are here.
Pulling a Botts by loading up on redundant Dmen doesn't seem to have a purpose either..I mean, the is the plan here?
There is still time to achieve success and are clearly intentioned moves with purpose...but the clock is still ticking. To act like there aren't valid questions, is disingenuous to me.

And to that I say, why isn’t this a playoff roster as currently constructed ?
Who’s to say this team doesn’t make the playoffs ?
I expect Adams to do more, but I also think this is a good roster as currently constructed.

A combination of inaction, unwillingness to be decisive, and moves around the periphery are almost assuredly not going to achieve the ultimate goal.
They do, however, keep expectations in check ✔️ ✅️ |

I see why the 3 Larry's were brought back. I know Wash-o will tell me to pound sand, but those guys coming here doesn't block anyone in the org.
I think they want to see Kulich, Rousek, Savoie and Benson fight. None of those guys are taking those kind of minutes that Z and Kyle are taking.
I would listen to an argument about the necessity of Jost, but the other two have their uses, none of which the prospects can fulfill.
And you're absolutely right, I have many of the same questions that most of you have. As stated above.

The questions in goal and Olofsson getting meaningful minutes until Quinn comes back are 2 of a few reasons that cast playoff doubt for me. |

it appears they're gambling on their internal ability to improve as their biggest "addition"
it's been a theme for the past 3 years.

Adams is obviously hoping that the internal growth of the team and the youth takes the next step and it pushes them into the playoffs. He's definitely gambling on his plan working on the moves that were made. |

Right now it’s a coin flip at best.
I expected them to put a stamp on the goalie position and #4 D and almost assuredly look like a contender |

On August 5th, that's the honest projection.
We're sitting here hoping that one of those prospects can deliver more than he can by 10/10. |
