Would not surprise me, think we will see a bunch of different pairings to see who can handle what. - Buff36
I think the bulk of games early will look like this:
Dahlin - Clifton
Power - Jokiharju
Samuelsson - E. Johnson
They'll use power play time to boost the minutes of Dahlin and Power, while using the PK to boost the minutes of Samuelsson.
I think you'll also see the following pairs based on game situation (tight game, need a goal late or to hold a lead late):
Dahlin - Power; or
Dahlin - Samuelsson
I agree with Lunaion that they care more about LD - RD pairs then they are leading on.
After their experience last season, I think they also wanted a 3rd pair they could rely on for this season. |

I can't see throwing Samuelsson on the bottom pair this year, demoting him, only to elevate him next season when Ryan Johnson is playing 3rd pair LD

Don't love it, but I don't know why else you'd sign two RD just to play an RD full time at LD when there were plenty of good LD options.
I think they have Power + Johnson in mind. Joker wasn't good with him and giving him a more experienced partner makes sense.

Until they can see what they have and who works well together. Dividing the extra minutes between Dahlin Power and Samuelsson could be Key. |

Don't think it would be a demotion, think it only happens to see what they have. |

locking samuelsson up long term and dropping him to 16/17 minutes a night would be like signing skinner to an 8 year 72 mil contract and demoted him to the 4th line
you just don't do it
oh wait

It does make sense, and I could see that happening, but I'm not sure how many minutes E. Johnson can handle at his age. |

He wouldn't be just playing 16/17min a night. He would be taking shifts away from Clifton and Samuelsson throughout the game to balance out time.
Like I wrote if he takes 2 shifts a period from Clifton with Dahlin that takes 3 minutes away from Clifton and adds it to Samuelsson. If need be he could do the same with Johnson. It balances Clifton and Johnson’s time and gives Samuelsson his regular 20/22min a night.

I just see too many games like this
https://www.espn.com/nhl/...xscore/_/gameId/401459848
check out the even strength ice time for joker and samuelsson
I don't see 10 minutes for johnson or clifton
but I do see 13 to 14 for johnson and 17 or 18 for clifton |

Saying some truth there. Think Adams waited again like he did with Ullmark and things dried up quickly. - Buff36
". It’s out there that Danny Briere wants two first-round picks for Hart. I wouldn’t give up one first rounder for a guy that in my world would be Levi’s backup. Hart’s best days were early in his career. Could he rediscover them? Sure he could, but waiting for him to do that doesn’t solve the Sabres problem in the crease."

Well kinda agree about the compensation, I don't think the other part is true. Adams should of tried harder last year to find that goalie. Really think he misjudged the market this year. |

Well if he would have put the numbers up he did last year with Philly on the Sabres. We are in the playoffs |

“I would have no interest in John Gibson or Carter Hart if they became available and if the Winnipeg Jets make Connor Hellebuyck available, I’d rather take my chances with a 21-year-old Levi instead of a stud, but a guy who is 30 years old and has one more year of making $6.17 million before becoming an unrestricted free agent.”

He really wouldn't be playing bottom pairing minutes, he would be playing a little less than what he was. And with his injury issues it could help him. - Buff36
Couple good points, but samuelsson is a top 4 minute eating defenseman. IMO |

Yes he is, and even with the way I explained it he still would be. You would just be spreading those extra minutes out with him playing 3LD. Samuelsson would still get 20 or so minutes a game. |
