the more i try to dissect these guys the more you realize they really are voodoo and it matters very (frank)ing much what the team does in front of them.
im not a gibson stump like some here but his team, i feel, makes him worse than he actually is, or would be somewhere else. - TheSabresTaco
DeSmith was better than Jarry last season.
I’d say Buffalo and Pittsburgh were pretty close with crappy d outside of the top pair. |

I think we can all agree that DeSmith is an upgrade over Comrie for this coming season

Considering UPL and Comrie had nearly identical stats, I'd say he's an upgrade over both. The GM didn't think so though |

got a headache from all the eyerolls from this one.
i support adams on a lot but this one will never, ever make sense to me. it's stupid.
"the cost" is insignificant to improve from upl.

I don't think that's true but I think he waits for some super ideal conditions, but the end result is lack of action and it's becoming a joke.

I still feel like the Sabres had an opportunity to really improve their team this summer and didn’t take advantage of it. They are relying on internal growth, which should still happen, but I think they should’ve done more to improve their roster. |

It all depends on what stat you're looking at.

Sabres gave up 15 more high danger shots than Pittsburgh last season
Medium danger was much higher with 92 more.
But Anaheim is higher on both of those.

"The team could also look to waive Riley Stillman, who has one year left at a $1.35MM cap hit and is, from a financial standpoint, the easiest player to cut ties with. His cap hit is just $200K over the buriable threshold, which is what he would cost against the cap if assigned to the minors. The team parted with a quality prospect in Josh Bloom to acquire him from the Vancouver Canucks last season, however, and he did hold his own defensively in Buffalo’s environment."
not a top 5 gm move - homiedclown
Stillman as 7th makes sense to me, as does getting rid of Bryson and Joker one way or another, even if it means send them down. I still think they could get a draft pick for Joker...2nd or a 3rd. |

look at what the habs did
"Montreal sent Hoffman and Pitlick to Pittsburgh in exchange for the Pens’ 2025 second round pick, goaltender Casey De Smith, forward Nathan Legare (a 22-year-old Montreal native) and Jeff Petry. The best part of this trade is that the Penguins are retaining part of Jeff Petry’s salary and that they’ve already paid his 3 million bonus for the year"

They can flip Petry and retain 50% and get a good return for him.
I think I call San Jose and see what they want for Granlund and see if they'll take Olofsson off our hands

Granlund has another season left on his deal after this at $5M per. No thanks. |

Sabres had finally put a little distance between themselves and Pittsburgh, Detroit and Ottawa last year. Taking this summer off has erased most of those gains |

I was looking for this low medium high stat, thanks
I wish I could source the stat that described the sabres as the worst in it but it's another L I'll take for the afternoon. I know Chad mentioned it several weeks ago. |
