“Most U23 points from a defenseman in the salary cap era:

232 — Rasmus Dahlin

169 — Zach Werenski
166 — Quinn Hughes
163 — Erik Karlsson
162 — Drew Doughty

If he ends up sitting just chalk it up to more wasted cap space by adams.

He's either a black hole 5v5 without a spot on the PP or he's 4.75m wasted on the cap

- ieetbred

but he is off the books after this year

people also realize how special it is to have a guy like him, hence not liking this slow play to improve the roster

He really is something else. I wholeheartedly believe he is and should be the next captain

By most accounts, he is their real leader. That's what should make him C.

I mean selling your company for hundreds of millions, getting it back for free, and getting 50% on any subsequent sale is still a huge W

I'm not saying it isn't, but he didn't get it back "for free". Also hedge funds aren't charities, there's a reason they divested.

IN EXCHANGE FOR CERTAIN NON-COMPETE AND OTHER RESTRICTIVE COVENANTS. PENN ALSO HAS THE RIGHT TO RECEIVE 50% OF THE GROSS PROCEEDS RECEIVED BY DAVID PORTNOY IN ANY SUBSEQUENT SALE OR OTHER MONETIZATION EVENT OF BARSTOOL

WHAT A DEAL CONGRATS
@stoolpresidente

Left out a tiny detail.

- Wetbandit1

The interesting part of the “Penn-Disney-Barstool” transaction in a nutshell:

Disney basically told Penn “we’ll acquire (rescue) you, but you gotta lose Portnoy and Barstool.”

Portnoy knew he had Penn over a barrel.

No divestiture of Barstool meant no deal with Disney.

So, Penn *gave* Barstool (a business they paid $551 million for in 2020) back to Portnoy, in exchange for a non-compete in online gambling and one-half of the proceeds of a future sale of Barstool.

Slice-and-dice this however you want, but Portnoy woke up today dramatically wealthier than he went to bed last night, due to Penn’s desperation and Disney’s inability to touch “bro culture.”

He and Strbak were excellent picks.

I really like the first four picks they made in the 2023 draft.

I think we all believe Pegula is spending everywhere possible to try and gain an edge with the Bills, but is he doing the same with the Sabres?

Is it only the decade plus of losing that causes players to not be interested in the Sabres, or is the ownership desire to pinch pennies a much larger factor than some want to admit?

The little things can add up to a big impact, especially to players when considering teams.

>>> Everyone we spoke to about this topic agreed: Star players are always carefully watching and assessing how an organization operates on a day-to-day basis.

>>> This is where a high-quality ownership group is so important. They cut the checks on all spending. They hire front-office personnel who are not only responsible for building the best team possible but for establishing the culture and standards within the organization as well.

>>> “Money is something that some owners are pretty cognizant about where they spend it,” said Stamkos. “He’s (Mr. Vinik) willing to spend it in all the different areas that he thinks will help improve the team, so that’s the type of ownership group you want as a player, the privilege to have him.”

Ok, parts of the season and certain games were super fun.

The season was fun, and better then expected.

Vegas didnt have the Sabres at more then 90 points

Are we really gushing over a guy who had 8 more points than Olofsson last year and wasn’t a career + player until the end of last season?
- Jet Jaguar BD

I don’t know that anyone is blowing their wad over Tatar. However he is a better overall option to fill a void left by injury that doesn’t cost us anything but signing a contract.

What Sabres D prospect has the highest ceiling?

Which one do you see making the NHL roster 1st?

Johnson will be here 1st, and wouldn't surprise me if it's sometime this up coming season.
Strbak is probably the more Pro ready than Gavin though.
