They’re supposed to get info about Bo’s knee by noon or so - Canada Cup
If they trade for Tim Anderson, we'll get the type of terrible defense at short that we're used to.

PM?
I'm not sure my daughter _ever_ went to sleep that early. Throughout this summer we've found ourselves fighting with her to get her to get to sleep at a terrible, but pseudo acceptable time of 2 AM. She has, twice, this summer so far stayed up all night and screwed her whole schedule for days. - Monkeypunk
My kids are 9 and 6... so 2 AM is impossible.
But during the summer they usually go to sleep a little later. 9-9:30. |

Feel bad at a higher level than normal. My cousin and his wife from Whitecourt Alberta were here for my other cousin’s wedding. They are leaving today but made a point of spending a night in Toronto so they could go to that game. What a damned disappointment for them. - Dozzer
It was still a good game to be at. |

I remember those days! Ours are now 13 (daughter) and 15 (son). I'm not tall, but my wife is - and my son takes after her. He's 6'2 already; it's ridiculous!

Most exciting frustrating team in Toronto.

FTFM.
Honestly, what bugs me is that they traded Gurriel and Teo because they needed to change the team's dynamic - but they were both top hitters with runners in scoring position last year. I mean they weren't great - Lourdes hit .286, which was 3rd on the team, and Teo was .269, which was 5th. Although I think I'm mostly pissed because I felt Teo should have brought back more and including Moreno for Varsho was absurd.
This year in Seattle, Teo is his team's best at .321 with runners in scoring position - and while Gurriel leads his team in RBIs with runners in scoring, he's only hitting .252 - which is 8th on Arizona.
While Bo, Vlad and Merrifield are all over .300 with runners in scoring position - and Jansen is at .258 - the rest of the team (Chapman, Springer, Kirk, Biggio, Kiermaier, Belt, Espinal and Varsho) are below .220. |

The $1 hot dogs at Tuesday home games are fun. Last game I went to the Jays got shutout but the hot dog scoreboard was epic.

also Teo and gurriel are terrible OF, I dont miss them
Id take Teo back, but honestly both have been pretty average hitting also. 102 and 94 OPS+
1 and 1.5 WAR
factor in the sub par fielding not missing much there.
when the Jays were playing arizona, Gurriel made a really nice catch..sliding/diving.
only problem is, that hit had a 95% catch probability...he just got a terrible jump so it makes it look a lot better. Varsho makes that look routine. stuff like that gets missed by fans

This guy has dirt on Atkins. No other plausible reason why he’s still in the majors. |

That was a thrill ride when the Jays blew that 8-1 lead at home. Those zero playoff wins in 3 years have been electrifying. |

He loves the jays, went and saw them play in Minnesota last August, close to a year ago. |

Even looking Gabriel Moreno, not that impressive yet. 87 OPS+, .676 ops.. has 2.0 war respectable.
the choice would have been to keep Moreno and move Kirk instead. Even with Kirks down year still hitting better overall.
Jansen has 37 HR in hos last 162 games played (as of a few games ago)
Kirk is also one of the better catchers at framing.
its not based on 1 year, so will be interesting to see it play out. Also, Moreno is 23 and Kirk is 24. Both young

I'm less concerned with what Moreno is - or even will be - and more concerned that his actual asset value was significantly higher than Atkins got for him. As the #7 prospect in baseball in 2022, I felt his value was more than they ultimately realized in the trade.
If I recall - and you may recall it better - when they were talking about acquiring Soto, Gurriel and Moreno were discussed as a part of a package along with Martinez and Pearson and the Jays were reluctant to part with Gurriel. Now I don't recall it that well, but I remember thinking that Gurriel shouldn't be the reason you don't acquire Juan Soto.
But for them to turn around and trade Gurriel and Moreno for Varsho just a few months later? I like what Varsho could be, but his value doesn't even remotely approximate what we gave up for him.

the part that factors into value heavily is years of control. Varsho has 3 more years of control... and both LG/TH are UFA this off season.
I dont remember any details about Soto/Jays trade tbh
